Good stuff! Not only is that a good looking yak, but it’s a color that hopefully boaters will see sooner rather than later!

Thank you! It is a great kayak in looks and performance!! One of my favorite colors for safety, thanks for pointing that out!! :)

That's why I chose the same color for my CK1. So I could be seen! (hopefully)

Good video. 👍 Wish I saw it before I first got in my kayak. Also, for newer kayakers, it can be useful to throw a rope onshore before exiting the kayak. Have it attached to a side handle. Do this so there's no way to lose the kayak while pushing out of the kayak to stand. If the kayak goes out away from shore, grab the rope.

Thank you. I don’t recommend any ropes on the side handles for any paddlers, especially beginners. It can cause entanglement issues and concerns. If the proper techniques are practiced and executed then the paddler should not have to worry about the kayak going anywhere. Getting everything in the kayak except for the paddler should be done before getting in the kayak therefore there should not be any time for the kayak to get away from the paddler. If the paddler exits and then pulls the kayak on to shore by the handles, then there is no need for a rope at anytime for this act. However, I do use a rope to moor the kayak to shore when loading the Kayaks or when I am taking a break from paddling on shore. However, the rope is removed and secured before launching the kayak again.

@@kayakflyfishingschool I understand your point. I've seen new kayakers (older guys) have trouble getting out, and the kayak is pushed away. One could attach the rope only for getting out. Store the 'get out rope' out of the way. Younger, new kayakers can bend and maneuver much easier than the old bunch; as in the ones with the spare tire around the waist.

@@videojoe7 that’s a valid point. Stowing that rope is key for safety. :)

Looking for clothing tips. Since our water temp is fairly cold in puget sound wa, we might be even looking at wetsuits for summer use. I am taking my son out on a 2 person fishing kayak. We did get the NRS boots for starters to keep our feet dry and warm.
@kayakflyfishingschool2 жыл бұрын
For summer trips the wetsuits should be fine, but in colder temps they don’t work so well. You can look at dry suits, they can get very expensive. You can also wear layers of quick drying materials like cotton, but no synthetics, they don’t keep you warm. Also carry a dry bag with a change of clothes for each of you, I hope you never need it, but dry clothes can get you warmer faster than waiting for wet cotton to dry. I would also throw in a towel just so you can dry off before putting on the dry clothes. Other than that, keeping up with water and air temps is crucial to attire and please learn self rescue and always wear your PFD. Safe paddles and tight lines!!

Great video. I would love to see how you are strapping down your crate. Did you remove the stock bungee system that comes with the ck1?
@kayakflyfishingschool3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I will put a video out soon that shows how I secure the crate. I use the stock bungees on the CK1 Venture.

I like your paddle. Is that your favorite paddle to use with the CK1?
@kayakflyfishingschool3 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! It is my favorite paddle, and it is adjustable length, so not is it my favorite with the CK1 Venture, but all of the Crescent Kayaks line up!!

Any perspective on launching at an improved boat launch without scraping up the hull on the concrete?
@kayakflyfishingschool3 жыл бұрын
Yes, if launching on/off concrete, I would suggest using the parallel to shore method to avoid scraping as much as possible.
