Hi. I have a E90 LCI 318 and it works. Thanks :) I also found that if you press the clucth and accelerate, ( all without put the 1st gear ) the car will stop at 2,5k RPM. All this in neutral and my car is a manual gearbox.

318i or 318d? I have E90 LCI 318i 07/2009 and it doesn't work. What you have looks more like an engine protection, rather than a launch control. Mercedes W124 models - they had this function = when you were in the neutral and would floor the car, the rev limiter would hold it at 4000 rpm.

@@MatiKosa exactly! this isn't launch control, just the DTC cutting since it dosen't want the tires to spin (which i guess is kind of the same) But i found that if you turn the DTC off, and then drive around, your e90 accelerates a lot harder. i don't think the DTC only cuts power when the tires at spinning but permanantly does.

Jonas Bay Actually you’re wrong, someone did the same thing and watched on a laptop if the turbo makes boost. And it does on turbo cars it makes boost to launch.

You release the clutch too fast and car looses grip on 2.5K rpm, and the clutch can be teared off like that.. The point is releasing it slowly soo the car is doing it very naturally and much better going off.

I think its the opposite, if you release clutch fast it grinds less and os activated more quickly, less grinding=less wear

Lol I woulda slapped buddy if he drove my bimmer like dat on God. FYI rev in neutral than clutch to first n let go fast!! Im telling y’all from first hand n years of experience with different manual bimmers.

Tested it on my E90 LCI 318i July 2009 - it doesn't work. Maybe because my car still has this old air conditioning with REST button, while you have the newer one with ALL. Maybe they added the launch control function somewhere in 2010 or it's not available for all models.

I have it in my E87 with 120d, with the REST button. Most likely it's a matter of the ECU software. Maybe if you update that module firmware it will include LC.

i traded my supercharged z for a upgraded turbo e90 with a jb4 piggy back tuner and the revs are set at like 4k and idk how to change it 😭

If it's a diesel then yes, quite a normal thing due to bigger compression which shakes the engine, shift rod, etc.

Running a modern diesel engine on idle for 15 minutes is pointless and not good for the engine. Diesels should only warm up while driving. You will clog your dpf and the engine will not warm up to the optimum temp. You have to idle it for max 3 minutes in very cold weather and then drive normally without revving too hard for 15 20 minutes. after that you should be golden. An e90 diesel will only reach 90C or more in start stop trafic, or at low speed/rev. Otherwise it will sit nicely at 84-85C. It will regen at 86C and 61km/h minimum. If you own an e90 and you care about it get a carly adapter and link it via bt to your phone and monitor any parameter you want in real time. It will teach you more than the owner's manual will and it will help you keep your car running properly for a long time. Cute feature this launch control but if you want wheelspin and screaming tires you have to do dtc off.

It's not really the same... To launch with DTC on you should still floor it to get wheelspin, if you hold it at 3k you are doing the same limiting as the auto rev limiter

Nope , if it was like that it will be in every gear but it s only in first and with dtc on , watch it again and you will understand how it works

it also makes +0.4 bar of turbo boost compared to the +0.2 bar when maintaining 2.5kRPM manually. So it's a launch control with boost build up. And for better performance you should wait 3-5 seconds before releasing clutch to make sure that your turbo is ready.

@@DrMeize Im guessing someone has coded your car to hold the revs at a certain rpm. It isn't necessary, it won't make you faster. And dual mass flywheel will be taking a beating by dropping the clutch like that. They are not cheap.
