What I mainly got out of this is, let the blade hit the first time when you're unlocked & turned around. From there, pivot to a front-facing position and catapult them into the air. Am I correct?

The r2 release is not during the ground drag, but for like 2 frames during the down swing. If you don’t release it, you don’t get the front hitbox on the downswing, and don’t get poise at all until half way into the ground swing.

I remember the old tech that Praise made a Training Grounds on: You had to be point blank, and if you hit a Light Attack, it would True Combo into the back-turned Fully Charged R2 for huge amounts of damage. Unfortunately, From patched it out when Ashes released... R.I.P. Praise/Trent.

This has been my favorite weapon since launch. Ive always loved this attack. You can also use the follow up 2h r1 to hit stuff behind you. I catch other players with it all the time. Right now Im rockin the greatsword. The greatsword has good variety in the 1h and 2h attacks for throwing off other players timing. I also love launching people with that r2 attack on the greatsword bonus points for sending them off a cliff.

A plus-on-block move that can be used for keep-out, okizeme, and mix-ups while having armor properties. They can also be put in a vortex if they don't know how to tech. That's a whole bag of fun, thank goodness it's slow and can be interrupted.

If you use a controller you can decide wether to pull the R2 to the left or right side Pulling it to the left side you have a higher change of picking someone that's already on the ground up, due to more hitboxes being on them. So left side is usually better but pulling it to the right side you get a bit more forward range on the upswing

Yes you can, altho I wouldn’t risk it unless you know the timing to interrupt on your latency with that person. And uh sure, but blood ring is a counter to a lot of things but also gives u -30 abs so I usually don’t account for it.

I'd like a video of dragonslayer spear sending ppl flying, just to bust that myth. Pd. For ppl wondering, bkga has a similar attack, but it's not the same. Bkga's launch covers way more area and is notably slower in charged version, but can hit in ppl right in front of you because of how big it's hitbox is, and deals more stagger. Uncharged r2 doesn't hit ppl in front of you tho.

Love this video and this type of content, I was wondering if you could give some attention to a couple other weapons I'm fond of like Gael's Greatsword. People always spam the spinning weapon art, but the leap attack is seriously slept on. Using the attack facing away from the other player and spinning 180 after the first jump closes a ton of ground on your opponent, and if you lock back on midair the tracking will home you right in on them. The range of this attack cannot be overstated, you can jump over half the round arena with this move and it combos into the other weapon art. Done perfectly, you can go from leap to spin to roll-catch to second spin and end the duel in a single pseudo-combo

You can still launch people, but how it’s designed the uncharged variant is much better. On the charge up version there is no poise on the initial downswing, and the charge window is like 3 frames. So u can’t really do as much with this as you can the bkgs. Not to mention I think the bkgs hits wider and longer.
