Brilliant yet again. One thing I can't get my head around is as you are laying slab courses towards the slope, how do you know each successive course is properly sloping towards the fall you are aiming for? Is there a hidden string line with a fall going down one edge of the patio?

Hi Justin I’m about to start laying a porcelain patio 200m2 got all the base in had all out over sight crushed and rolled that in nice and tight. Only issue I’ve got is due to the size I’m struggling to get a a nice levels 40mm base to lay the sharp sand on it’s more like 50 -70 mm I appreciate its going to cost more in sand cement but would you feel a thicker bed more be ok to lay on. Thanks Justin keep up the great work.👍🏻👍🏻
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Donald Wow 200m2 big area then mate.Yes i think you be fine with that .What you could do is top it with stone dust / Grano its 6 mm to dust basically. Top your levels that are low re wack it and save on the sand and cement. Hope that helps and good luck appreciate the comments Justin 👍
@donaldtriumph1682
@donaldtriumph1682 2 жыл бұрын
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping Thanks Justin I had thought of grano dust but wondered if it would be a stable base. I take your advice on board and thank you very much. And yes it’s a big area which to be honest will be done in 2 sections. Still plenty to go at.👍🏻👍🏻
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping 2 жыл бұрын
@@donaldtriumph1682 Your welcome Donald. As long as the base has already been whacked at the right intervals then a small layer of dust will do no harm what so ever .Just be sure to wack wack and wack it again. 200m2 thats a lot 🙂🤣👍

Hope that answers it for you im gonna have to buy more but in the long run a good investment its better than a petrol saw in so many other ways . Justin 👍

Hello mate, watched a few of your videos now. Doing my garden in the next few weeks. I'm a qualified chippy so more than happy with working out levels and that but I've never done a patio. My two points of concern are getting the sub base right and then working out the pattern. I bought loads of Indian sandstone second hand for really cheap. The guy I bought it off was great help and he said it was an 'opus' pattern. My issue is I have no plan for it, where do I start with the pattern? Is there a way I can work out the pattern or get someone to work out the pattern?? Any help would be great, thanks mate

@brickrightbuildinglandscaping
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping 2 жыл бұрын
Sharp sand chippings and cement to make concrete. Min 100mm thick and if u can get the concrete about 200mm below ground that would be good . Has to be on solid ground the deaper the better due to frost exposure 👍

@brickrightbuildinglandscaping
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping 2 жыл бұрын
@@superbadiii4856 yes id say so .you have to be careful on chalk or silt ground as the frost can effect the foundations. If the wall is a dwarf wall should be ok but if its sizeable you should seek advive for foundations from a structural engineer for spec and design. Ive no idea the size or ground conditions of the area the wall is to be built . So hopefully that helps all angles Good luck Justin 👍

@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping hi thanks. This is for 7.29sqm Indian sandstone pack making a step on to a patio area. So each side is 2.7m. It will be 1 to 2 bricks high.
