We had a drive installed yesterday and they did not do any screeding 🤷🏼♀️ We chose grey bricks but where the sand hadn’t been swept in enough at the end, the bricks look discoloured and there is still loose sand all over the drive. My husband tried sweeping it in last night but he didn’t really get anywhere. We also chose a different design but because the boss guy didn’t like it, he sent us the pattern that he’d be getting his team to do 👎🏻 Bit of a disaster really 😞

Reading and watching this, it appears to me you guys have had rubbish service from CITB south of border. The advisor I’ve dealt with for 10+ years here in Scotland is first class. I have one apprentice, one time-served joiner, and me. I send my return in every year, they calculate what I’m owe them, and for 10 years it’s been £0. I’ve had grants and funding for training, but I don’t pay the levy because I’m a micro company. Phone an advisor in Scotland for sound advice, and stop yakking on here, giving out duff advice and comment.
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping2 күн бұрын
And I've had the same years back .I also haven't payed a levy Graham. The issue is it isn't fair and it actually stops companies taking on Apprentices because the bigger companies have to pay a levy well some do some don't that's my point. If it was run more effectively then we could be having more Apprentices across the board which benefits young people and the businesses they serve. It's an old unfair system that needs a big revamp to move forward to gain more Apprentices a better quality of training and the levy it's self isn't working. I only made the video because I care about the industry and young people trying to make a go of it . If you think it works and your happy with it great I'm glad your happy no issue good luck to you and the young lads you bring through 👍
@graham17452 күн бұрын
I understand what you’re saying, mate, and apologies if I came across as confrontational. I think the problem is that CITB operates slightly differently up here, they have close ties with Feds, mine included, we had an indentured apprenticeship scheme for decades, etc, etc. I think the staff up here are also well established and knowledgeable, whereas there’s been all sorts of change over the years down south. If you know of someone who says they’re not registered, you can ask CITB to check. It’s not grassing anybody up, you wouldn’t stand back and watch someone dodge paying their taxes, this is no different. I remember listening to a govt minister before the last review who said, if CITB didn’t exist, something would have to take its place. The best we can all do is make sure we get as much back as we can, whether through grants, advice, whatever…. Stay safe, mate. 👍

Notify CITB of Your Status: If you believe your company should not be included in the levy scheme, contact CITB to notify them of your status. You can do this through their online portal or by calling their customer service. Submit Supporting Documentation: Be prepared to provide evidence supporting your exemption claim. This could include payroll records, financial statements, and any other relevant documentation that proves your wage bill is below the threshold. Appeal the Levy Assessment (if necessary): If you receive a levy assessment that you believe is incorrect, you have the right to appeal. Write a formal letter to CITB explaining why you believe the assessment is wrong and provide supporting evidence. Follow Up with CITB: After submitting your notification and documentation, follow up with CITB to ensure your request is being processed. Keep records of all your communications.
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping2 күн бұрын
That's a very good idea that is .I explain this every year by phone and each year they won't let me leave the scheme saying it's a legal requirement that everyone in the industry should be a member of including me weather I'm above or below the threshold. If it's government run they have all our tax records utr numbers etc when you register your business or self employment so why is it only a few are targeted for the levy. I don't pay a levy but I feel sorry for the guys that get bullied into paying it while others don't. I also feel for the apprentice because I feel there isn't enough and I wonder why 🙂 also there training isn't good enough .the entire levy set up is letting the industry down it's hard enough anyway .appreciate the great post 👍

Hi Justine They are all private firms leaching of us pal ! @brickrightbuildinglandscaping2 күн бұрын
They are charging some people thousands for a levy while others same size company pay nothing. All this effects the apprentice before they even start. It's like this the citb pay a company grants over 3 years don't no what it is these days say 5k then if your a big enough company you could be paying back that each year .then your apprentice gets taught a watered down version of the trade in college so hen he's finshed he isn't competent to do the trade not his or her fault .it's just pathetic John and your right no matter who you vote for stays the same it's BS 👍

Just don’t take apprentices on and put young lads through the Justin qualification… the JITB qualification you could say. That’s what I do for that exact reason mate it’s just not worth doing as sad is it is. You can still train some one, get them up to speed quicker than college will! the apprentices don’t even know what a cavity tray is when they leave😅 Then put them on a on site course for there qualification. But even then in over 20years I’ve never had to prove I’m qualified, which is sad really. Any one can say oh I’m a Bricky or a roofer and just blag it🤷🏻♂️ it’s mental

I had to sign up myself as I took on a 3rd year apprentice. Load of hassle though. I asked once he’s out his time could I de-register as I would never take on an apprentice again. They said once your on it you can’t come off it which I find very unfair. And also if you don’t submit your return on time they estimate an amount that your due to them based on your turnover. That happened to me some years ago and had to pay 3k.
