Did some like this and some with a concrete footing (4 years ago) the area without footing is now falling apart, the area with footing reinforced with rebar is still perfect.

Hi mate. How do you mean falling apart? These are 86kg reconstituted limestone blocks. If they are falling apart, that would be the quality of the block, not the method I would say. Thanks

Hey mate, I’m about to do a retaining wall for my garden beds. It’ll be 1 limestone block high. Is there a formula for figuring out how much cement I’ll need? Cheers

You can get those clamps from Remastone for $66 ea, they pick up any size block up to 500mm in length.

I love the fence that’s on the back ground, wat material or how can it be made. Grade jove

Gday Robert, thanks for your question the fence in the background is a colourbond fence. It is powdercoated steel. Here's a link for their website colorbond.com/products/fencing

Hey great video! Thanks for posting it. Where can you get the clamp (block lifter) tool?

what is the lime mortar cement ratio? is it only wet lime, is it mixed with cement and sand?
@needatradie5 жыл бұрын
G'day Carmel you can use a brickies light cement which has lime in it. We use 3/4 of a bag to one barrow of brickies or plasterers sand
@carbugnov19525 жыл бұрын
@@needatradie the reason I am saying this ,because humidity settles in the lower layers which causes stone decay if cement is in a high ratio.

hey i got a question! wat stop's the wall from falling over? is it cemented at the base/bottom because you guys just compacted it and then started laying!? does it need anything at the bottom? it looks simple enough and i might try and do it myself at my house, thanks mate hope to hear from u.

Hey mate, no you wont have to do a concrete footing for 2 courses high, the weight of the 500x350x240mm blocks is enough for that height. any higher then you will want a backing block.
@markc86023 жыл бұрын
@@AhlandscapesAu how many backing blocks would you need for something at 2m high that would have sand built up behind it?
@secretsquirrelaka-vesuvius367210 жыл бұрын
will those block grabbers grab down to say 110mm-170mm? thinking of laying splits.
@AhlandscapesAu10 жыл бұрын
110-170mm wide? if long then probably not.

Where are you based there are many places that you can get them. Harveyjenkin Landscapes got them from Urbanstone for around $100 inc GST

No way will that wall stay straight laid in rubble every hard rain will weaken it.
@needatradie5 жыл бұрын
This was 7 years ago and I can confirm that the wall is still flush and level. Thanks

I built a retaining wall over 12 years ago laid onto sand lightly compacted (by hand only) and its still straight and level. 👍
