I passed over this video a few times thinking ‘oh gawd, another complicated rabbit hole to go down’ …clicked on it today & found the topic interesting & perhaps with your awesome examples & instructions less complicated than imagined👌 especially given I have a few of the scents you’ve used as your demos. Thanks for keeping things interesting, creative and fun!👏

I honestly have the most fun layering fragrances!! It gives me a whole unique scent, personality and vibe! But one thing I will say, you have to possess some knowledge of what notes work together!

Well, I wish I had watched this one month ago! I got Xerjoff Casamirati Lira, which has citrus top notes and noticed that they dissipated almost immediately. So, I went out and bought a half dozen citrus fragrances to layer on top of it, hoping to keep the citrus note in the mix from spritz to dry down and for hours. Only Aqua Allegoria Bergamote Calabria made the right combo with Lira, but did not last either. Bummer! I wish I had gotten Laboratorio Olfattivo Mandarino instead -- that would have saved a lot of money. It is going onto my list right now! Thank you Sebastian. I feel like you need to teach a certificate course in this and I need to move back up to SF to take it! 🤩

Today I have layered Chergui, Floris Honey Aoud and a 12yo Malaysian pure oud oil. I disagree about layering two nuclear fragrances - recently I layered Black Orchid with Resala and the result was mind blowing. So damned good!
@EsoxLVCIVS67769 ай бұрын
@@kb6605 I put the Black Orchid on and layered the Resala on top. Today I applied the oud oil onto my wrists and massaged it into my beard, sprayed Chergui on wrists and back of my neck and misted the Honey Aoud on the top of my forearms and throat.

Smelling the blotters close to one another it occurred to me the other day that the jasmine and the vanilla of the Guerlain's extracts, though both very intense, would make an amazing layering combo!

I loved this video - one of my favourite of yours so happy so many great combos! Please can you suggest a layering combo for Penhaligons Halfeti? I love this fragrance but I find it doesn't last as long or project as much as I wish it would. Is there another perfume you think would enhance/complement this and just make it a fire cracker

With Halfeti you can either amp up the woods or the rose. Try the Perris Rose Taif that's in this video maybe makes it rosier! :)

Well I've got to disagree with you on Silver Oud Sebastian lol. I have and do layer it often with ultra-sweet top and heart heavy fragrances and it goes very well. My favorite thing to layer Silver Oud with is Mancera's Instant Crush for a more natural/less synthetic smelling version of an Initio's Oud for Greatness type scent. It's POWERFUL but intoxicating, haha! Definitely saved for those bitter cold winter days.😂

Layering, unless a Jo Malone or the like, is anathema to the art. It's like slapping a Van Gogh over a Monet in Photoshop. The perfumer has already 'layered' the creation.
@danesthesia099 ай бұрын
Couldn't disagree more. While perfumery is (often) an art, what I wear is incredibly personal, so *I* do what *I* like.

Will order myself a few ml of Curashi Strawberry Musk oil and see how it is as I’m looking for strawberry too. Didn’t try Mancera Of The Wild yet people say it’s pretty close to Xerjoff La Capitele which is my backup solution if the others won’t work. I also have Byron Mula Mula on the list that I want to try. When mixing Montale Mukhalat with Mancera Lemon Line it becomes a tolerable artificial strawberry that isn’t too sweet as Mukhalat is on its own.

I don’t layer much but I do use “Secretions Magnifique” to make a scent sexier and more animalic. I do like your amplifying approach. I usually reapply a short lived fragrance. I’ll sometimes shift from cologne to an EDP or perfume of a similar family.
