Hell Let Loose is a realistic World War Two first-person shooter with open battles of 100 players with infantry, tanks, artillery, a dynamically shifting front line, and a unique resource-based strategic meta-game. This is World War Two at a scale you’ve never played before.

The worst OP is the one you don’t put down, sometimes you can’t get to a good spot if you’re heavily engaged, you still need to get one down, you’ll be able to get a better OP later on if things calm down. Do not ask the commander if you can put a Garry down, just get it down.

I tried the squad leader role for the first time last night after my kids went to sleep. I kept joining squads that didn't have a squad leader for some reason and I didn't think we'd get too far without outposts, so I took up the role.

@@TerrydactylAbsolutely. Everyone was new once & an educated new player is one that will ultimately benefit everyone playing. We cannot teach them everything, but we can demonstrate a mature, welcoming attitude and willingness to help them learn. HLL can be a great game (when it works…); it can also have a painfully cringe elitist streak & strong whiff of neckbeard (it is just a corny bunch of pixels at the end of the day). 9:38 yeah i hadnt played fps games regularly since counterstrike source, even then i didnt like being forced from 1.6 - but this HLL is a proper beast. i like it because its not just running around and scalping. 1 shot is all it can take to put you down easily (which i prefer as it makes people slow down and play smarter) so much to learn about, the 3 channels to speak on is one of the big things. and the leaning around corners, i have had to re assign button configs for that alone as im just now use to using q and e to do that. ive always used M2 as my jump and spacebar as ADS.

I’ll shorten it to 3 basic tips: -Consistently place Outposts in areas that need it, and when there’s enough distance, place garrisons, preferably in easy to defend yet also easy to leave from (don’t place it somewhere like a choke point in case you get pushed back. It’ll be a slaughter for your guys as well if the enemy can force you to stay put and spawn camp.). -keep your squad together, or, if you can’t, at least communicate with them, as well as with the other squad leaders and the commander (oh, yeah, use your mic if you have one, but, if not, at least constantly use the text chat.) -since you have the binoculars, constantly ping tanks, groups of enemies; basically, keep your guys in the know.

I know this is basic and a very obvious tip but, "Never Quit when squad leading period"...I mean if you've stepped into the SL role then by all means ride it out till the very end of the match, you'll gain the respect of your squad mates for doing so and even in a loss you can always learn something new from the game, in fact use the time to teach your squad mates the right way to play HLL and they'll thank you for it ;)

Yeah, very weak move to bail on a squad (even as a member in my opinion, provided you’ve been playing together more than 5 minutes or so). That goes equally for commanders. A leader who bails looks like pure sour grapes from someone whose team got outplayed (it happens). It’s an overgrown baby move. My only exception is a situation in which not one of the other squad members is following my orders, or even trying; I have no obligations in that case. If even one is listening, however, that squad mate and I will die on those fields together.

Simple, send your squad with the exception of a support role to the attack or defend point. You and the support flank right or left of the attack or defend point and get a OP and or garry down. I then send my support on his own to help fight the point or stay with me if point is taken quickly. As the SL i like to stay back and help move my squad without dying. Dying slows things down for you and your squad, so its not about getting kills unless you have to fight. Also, as an SL you have to think like a commander because in this game you got rookie commanders, ones that troll and do not talk or they dont have a mic. For me, if this is going on ill take it as nobody will stay and defend the point taken and ill do it. Because many dont stay back due to no fighting and long waits doing nothing. But as soon as you leave then the point gets taken and then back capping starts. Comms is big also, talk to your guys and let them know what to do. What to look for and what sectors to watch out for while you spot for them. Finally, when your going into heavy foliage areas or contested areas at range, gather your guys up as a group and send a point man 20 or 30 meters in front of you. Follow him in while dropping an OP or Garry as you move up. Drop that intel to your commander and other SL on what you see as you move up and what you put down. Thats pretty much it in a nutshell or at least how i do it.....

Amazing vid! As a new player I found this very interesting and encouraging. Its sad when you get a squad leader that hardly speaks (if at all) to the squad and I hope now people might also be encouraged to use their mic more. It's the most important equipment you ever gonna get!

You also need to keep in mind that garrisons provide map control. Do not just build it behind. Build it in front to prevent the enemies from actually entering the capture sector which is the real problem.

What I've started doing with command chat is finding a squad that wants to work with me and then muting all others so it's just one officer the commander and usually one tank commander I try to work with. The experience for me is better that way.

This is fine to start and to ease you into the role, but eventually you will not want to risk missing important info, especially if your commander isn’t on the ball with remarkings (or at all). Obviously it’s a great move for one’s own sanity however when command chat becomes toxic or clogged up with nonsense, in which case you are better off muting the idiots. (And PSA: please don’t be one of those SL’s who overshares, interrupting command constantly to tell everyone you took down an OP or killed someone, etc: they’re the in-game equivalents of a child proudly telling his mother he went to the bathroom “and I did it all by myself!”)

Maybe you could do compilation of all the important sound in the game and what they are, 4 example: helmet ding = headshot, different weapons sounds, etc.. i think it would help new players, cuz i have 50 hours played and still can't decide if the guy i shot is dead or if it's m1 garand or gewehr 43 shooting

At 1:40 in the video, the 2 north most garrisons are extremely poorly placed. When you lose Rue, you lose 2 full horizontal lines of territory. If both of the garrisons were placed just over the line to the North they would both remain as spawn points to retake Rue should it fall.

That would just take away from everything the game is trying to be! Also hit markers aren’t in the game, but if you listen you can more often than not hear a thud when and only when you hit somebody.

I can not help every one in my team at te same time. When I am trying to teach my squad members how to play other team members are fucking everything up. Not attacking or worse Not defending. Or not listening. It is being frustrated new. I can not defend and attacking and building op/garrisons. And flanking are the same time. I will try to learn people but it’s being frustrating at this moment. I want finally experiencing a proper match. A match that’s close call and a lot of good moves. And not this weird matches that I am experiencing. Some times we are pushing whiteout any resistance. And some times we are loosing whiteout any chance to start a good fight.

@@user-es3dr5xk8f in fairness that tends to happen by accident and the poor guy who’s gone officer with no idea is so in the mire. Probably doesn’t have a mic, and doesn’t even know the keystrokes. Best to just leave the squad, or form your own squad.
