I get lots of questions on pack strings, how to hook them together and how I lead them. I show you the lead rope that I use and give the reasons for the length and the snaps and the buckles that I use. I show you how they travel with the ropes attached through blow down timber.

I always have a knife handy, you just never know when you gotta cut a rope. I’ve done it many times over my lifetime

Good Morning Dave! Dang I miss doing that!! I don't like them grazing. It causes problems in all sorts of ways. Some even learn to break the string so they can eat. I wrap the rope around the horn then under a leg. Sometimes just hold it in my hand. If there is a blow up, you can sure get into trouble fast if it's tied hard to your riding saddle.

Thanks for that video! What type of rope are you using for that 55" string rope? And what do you use for piggin string? I use bailing twine but Ive heard some people say no to bailing twine and only use manilla. What do you do? Thanks!
