I'm so glad to finally find someone who understands what an accent is. You can teach people how to pronounce words all day long, but that doesn't get rid of their accent. Accent runs deeper. It goes to the root of how people form their words. It involves "placement," and muscle tension. This is why people can imitate accents even with words they have never heard uttered in the foreign account. People can just sound French, Italian, German, Chinese, etc. using any word they wish.

Thank you so much for this video and all of your amazing work. I knew you and your English teaching course on youtube since I was in high school, probably 12years. Wow, I have never ever seen any English teacher that could put all of their hearts into their lessons just like the way you do, the way you organize the lessons, the way you analyze things, teach me how to speak like a native speaker, I am greatly appreciated from deep in my heart. I talked about you anytime I found someone whom interested in English. You made huge breakthrough in my life. I couldnt speak English with kinda of American accent without you, Rachel. Thanks god I found you at the right moment. Hope you and your family are always be safe, happy and successful. Cant wait to see your next videos.

This is so interesting. My first language is Spanish and I started to learn English when I was 9, I'm 41 now. During my high school years I was casually told I had a heavy accent, and that made me self conscious. So I decided to study what people looked like when they spoke perfect English, and I learned a lot from that, and practice. I learned where to place my tongue, and how the air flow affected the specific sound. I practically have no accent now, and I share what I know with whoever it may help.

when I am working on my abs, lower placement becomes easier. Then I get the feeling that there is a connection between my diaphragm and the muscles around my lips( I usually notice a lip-shaping pattern with native speakers as if they were smiling while speaking. The sure thing is the more you feel understood the less anxious and the better you perform orally. big up to you Rach

@stevolopez
@stevolopez 19 күн бұрын
Try using jaw-dropping after the words was, were, or is. Also, try using jaw-dropping when it is something you see. For example: The magician's final trick was jaw-dropping, leaving the entire audience in stunned silence. The athlete's jaw-dropping performance broke multiple world records. The view from the mountaintop was absolutely jaw-dropping, with a panorama of the entire valley. The special effects in the movie were jaw-dropping, making the action sequences look incredibly realistic. Her transformation after the makeover was jaw-dropping; she looked like a completely different person. The news of the company's unexpected bankruptcy was jaw-dropping to all its employees. The chef's culinary skills were jaw-dropping, creating dishes that looked like works of art. The luxury and opulence of the mansion were jaw-dropping, with marble floors and gold-plated fixtures. The speed at which the new technology operates is jaw-dropping, revolutionizing the industry. The artist's latest sculpture was jaw-dropping, showcasing an incredible level of detail and craftsmanship.

This is so fascinating. I have also managed to acquire a native-like accent (as confirmed by many Americans some of whom only heard me the first time) and your videos have helped me a lot along the way. What I also found very useful was immitating native speakers, even exaggerating the intonation and sounds they make because what seems exaggerating to you might actually just be normal. What I think about American English is that... you can't just be quiet and constrained about it. You have to open up. That doesn't mean speaking loudly, it just means to talk about everything as if you just discovered it.

@@languagetraveler126 Evet çok faydalı ama aksan öğrenmeden önce konuşma, yazma, gramer gibi şeyleri öğrenmek gerekir bence. Bunları halleden bir kişi için faydalı.

Hi, Rachel! I have followed your channel for two years but it's my first time to leave message. I have to say this video is too useful! I always struggled with my English accent but still couldn't speak like native speaker. After trying the tips in the video, it really helps me a lot! Thank you for sharing!
