Good morning Daria! I think talent is an interesting word. When someone says “You’re so talented!”, I might feel pressure that I should be the best or not make mistakes. Especially when it’s something creative, because no one knows what I struggled with or that it didn’t really come out the way I had hoped. For me, I’m most definitely a hands on learner. I need to practice something many times before I feel confident. I myself am usually the thing that gets in my own way, if that makes any sense. I have had moments of great frustration, but got through them and learned from them. It also encourages me to do my art the way I like and truly enjoy it. It makes me happy, regardless of what others think of my “talent”. Have a wonderful day. 💕

Oh thank you for sharing your experience! 😊 Perhaps confidence plays a big role in our perception of our own talent. We are our own biggest judges after all! But I think it’s important you know that about yourself and find ways to deal with them which are gentle and helpful, rather than damaging (like hiding and judging ourselves)

Those are some profound thoughts on talent. They actually do make sense to me, former artist and illustrator. I've been called talented a lot, and the word always came to me with a heavy sense of responsibility and expectations. I eventually burned out because, yes, the audacity and the action and effort eventually took its toll.

“Talent is the audacity to go after the things you want or like”. That’s such a wonderful quote and really does sum up how I feel about the concept of talent. Sometimes I will share things that I have made on social media and will be told that I’m so talented, or asked if there’s anything that I can’t do and it always makes me feel very uncomfortable and I’ve never been sure why. You’ve hit the nail on the head by describing how you are drawn to creative activities, not to become any kind of expert, but because of the joy they bring. I just love learning new things and skills! This video has really freed up my thoughts about how I see my own creativity. Many thanks and all the very best to you ❤

Thanks for this video, I needed the reminder... my parents are artists and I've always felt frustrated that I don't have natural talent, I spend a lot of time trying to paint a watercolor or be decent at playing the piano. I'm not going to put pressure on myself, I'm just going to practice more and enjoy the experience... thank you, hugs from Chile ❤

There is an emerging thread of consciousness around this very subject that I see more and more in social media and books and podcasts. How creativity isn't a personality trait; it's a skill that can be taught and cultivated. And, on the same vein, how we sometimes don't see something we do as "a talent." Or we might disagree when someone says we are talented because we don't feel our skill level matches that definition. Perfectionism is the villain of Creativity. I struggle with concept so much but am slowly learning to allow myself to be bad at something and taking criticism so I can learn to become better. This will also help refine my opinion on what I believe is "good enough".
@IamDaria6 ай бұрын
It’s an interesting subject to ponder about, isn’t it. I think “talent” as a concept doesn’t have anything inherently bad about it. But it can sometimes affect us in rather unpredictable ways. It feels different to everyone as well.

I have always been complimented for my singing skills. But personally, i never thought i was talented. Comparing myself to better singers than me in my school, i was confused and insecure. It felt like all their compliments were lies, to not make me feel bad. But no matter how much i thought about it, everyone's reaction was always so genuinely positive. Yet, i was insecure. Now i realize i was wrong. So wrong. Singing is my passion. Singing with emotions is something i enjoy more than anything else. As time passed, i noticed the progress in my recordings. The notes i couldn't hit back then, i am a master at them now. So yeah, i totally agree that talent is not just natural, it is the audacity of working on what i liked. I had the passion and i worked on it and i am improving my skills day by day.

We all have the analytical and creative sides of our brain the right and left hemispheres I believe we develop at an early age of course both sides as we grow we start to enjoy certain aspects of each side and I think that it is during these years we gravitate towards doing what we like perhaps as a hobby or sport I also think our parents have a lot of times not all are either also creative or analytical and definitely influence our early years….all to say I agree that you can pursue whatever it is that interests you and perfect it to the best of your ability by learning through what suits you visually written word or simply by doing there certainly is no wrong way to learn! Beautiful packaging 🌻🌿

I struggle with being both anayltical and creative, because I love being creative and being in nature and exploring different cooking ideas or crafts. At the same time It's hard not to struggle with the money aspect of life or I can be very analytical making me think too deep sometimes or wanting to understand another person's thoughts

Oh I can relate to this so much! I too, despite being creative, am very pragmatic. That’s why a balance is important, and even though in this video I speak of the two as opposites, we are all a spectrum of both.

At the moment I use two different companies. I work with a local artist to print bigger artwork (size A5 +). It’s a one-man small art reproduction business which uses finest quality papers, inks etc. For small A6 size postcards I currently use a slightly bigger UK based company, because they have the thicker postcard paper available. 😊

Regarding talent, my point is that the vast majority of people don't work hard enough to need to spell talent; athletes are gifted, and the difference between first and last place in the final may be less than a second
@AstoriaFu6 ай бұрын
I am a web fiction author, I used to envy the lucky ones, they can burst into the limelight in the first book, while I wrote five million words and remained unknown, however, the truth is that you have no idea how many words they have written, how many books they have read and how many profound life experiences they have had before this, making their works loved and touched by people.

I don't think I'm any less talented than they are, but I'm missing some of the effort I should have made in areas I've never noticed before.

I can relate to you so much! We always see success of others and it seems so easy. Me too, being a creative for my entire life and never really succeeding at any of it. Or even on KZbin - my growth has been much slower than many other creator’s. There are some who already have millions of subscribers, though we started with similar niche at roughly same time. But my growth is slow and I constantly think that I’m unlucky and there is something wrong with me. I think it’s also not so much about the hard work, but smart work. And sometimes simply being in the right place at the right time. We have our own timeline and I’m sure better things will come. We have to keep going!

Islam is allergic, to say the least, given the importance(completely negative one) it attributes to any form of culture, be it fine arts, music, science, literature....etc....! So, pleasel keep your islam very far away from artistic & cultural values which it prohibits so vehemently!
