Great service you provide, Jason. I would like to see a video on how to successfully execute a post-construction lessons learned video. I looked on your site briefly but did not find one.

Thanks for these videos! I will saying having a past in trades not only gives you some insight and confidence but also garners you some respect with the trade crews working hard every day. Welding has treated me well on the way up but I would recommend any building skill you can learn along the way to go with your degrees, certs, and books! Good combo :)

JMoney! I love your videos and truly appreciate this one since I am new to the industry from over 10+ yrs in healthcare. Despite not having a solid background in construction, I have continued to do my research on the terminology, construction phases and finding channels like yours, highlighting the skills needed to be successful, like learning to read those drawings! I’m looking to start a Construction Mgt program after obtaining my CAPM certification in project management. I’ve applied to numerous positions since the latter end of 2023, but haven’t been successful with transitioning into the industry. Any advice or tips on getting my foot in the door or roles that don’t require significant experience? I’ve tried applying to administrative/coordinator roles to get my foot in the door but they still require some years of experience in some aspect of construction. Thanks in advance!

Hi Jason! I found my love for construction through working for a Home Builder for a while in highschool. I am going into construction management at our state’s big 10 school this upcoming fall. What are some things I can start learning or doing before school starts? I want to be a PM some day

Hey Jason, First of all thank you for your wisdom and inspiration. I have a qualification in Logistics & supply chain management and i wanted to pursue construction cost and estimating as i only have a tiny bit of cost and estimation knowledge. with that said, is it advisable to volunteer and learn the costing methods hands on and in time ascend into higher levels and one day become like you? i also will start with learning how to read drawings and blue prints. thank you so much.

Hey Jason, Firstly, I love your videos. Super helpful! Not sure if this question makes sense, but here I go. I am a project manager for a small construction/real estate company. I worked at a restoration company before this and worked my way up. Obviously, a project manager for a residential flipping company is not directly the same as one for a multi million dollar commercial company. With four years of pm experience what would be a good transitional/next step job in your world to take to get to project manager in the commercial world, if even possible. Assistant project manager or some type of field engineer?
@jasonwilliamschroeder6 ай бұрын
For me, yes. I do not know on an individual company basis. have you tried getting in yet?
@trevorpennington39116 ай бұрын
@@jasonwilliamschroeder No I haven’t. I really like the company I work for and don’t plan on leaving. But from what I see on that side of things and from your videos it really intrigues me and looks very satisfying. If something ever happened and I left that company I am at now I would probably jump over to that type of stuff. I just was curious what that would look like coming from residential, managing a couple million dollars a year, to multi-million dollar construction.

I have just graduated with my construction management and I have no experience in the means and methods of construction. I have been on internships, but other than that, I have no experience. I know you mentioned that we should concentrate on one thing at a time, but what is of importance to a new project engineer trying to become a project manager? What trade should I start trying to learn first?

@@jasonwilliamschroeder I understand experience is the key, but how can a recent college graduate grad get experience. I have learned most of the things you talked about in college. That doesn't teach me how to build though. What are your suggestions for a recent college graduate like myself with no prior construction experience.
@jasonwilliamschroeder3 ай бұрын
@@aaronwilliams6812 If it was me I would focus on getting any kind of relevant experience whether it was an internship, lower-level position, or getting in with a contractor on a probationary basis. The degree helps you get in, but it appears experience is what people care about nowadays. The trick is to not turn your nose up at opportunities that could help you just because you have a degree.
