Hey nice video! But u need to recheck ur definitions of Data Science and Data Analytics! Data Science is not only for predicting the Future, DS is the broad topic wich covers all the science around what u can do with data. Data Analysis is one topic of Data Science wich covers specially the analysis part. Its hard to deal with these buzz words bc they get thrown wild through the Internet. Hope this helps u and I can recommend u to do ur own research about what I said here but keep in mind we booth could be wrong :)

Great video! Thanks for the recommendations! But I have a question. After reading all the descriptions of the courses in detail, the two courses in machine learning, I mean the one from Michigan and the one from Washington looked pretty similar to me. Do you recommend us taking booth giving the fact that they cover similar topics? It looks like that the one from Michigan is better organized, but the fact that the one from Washington has more hours confused me to be honest. Also I loved the fact that the one from Michigan seems to go in depth not only in machine learning but in data manipulation and visualization as well (I know it says data science). I already started with Python for everybody by the way! Love your content bro!
@mrdbourke
@mrdbourke 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Matias! I appreciate it! And you're right about the crossover between the two courses, there are a few overlaps (data science and machine learning are broad topics so there's a fair bit to cover). I'd say the Michigan one is a good introduction to data science and machine learning, it also covers a fair bit of machine learning in course 3 (inside it). However, I'd say the one from Washington is an expansion of course 3, going more into detail about different machine learning techniques. In essence, the Michigan one is an introduction and the Washington one is an expansion.

I remember being forced into mandatory subjects along with many other students because the Uni employed a (expensive) top researcher in a very esoteric field. So few students needed the course he was lecturing to 3-5 students, if any. The Uni bean counters could not justify his cost so they made every engineering student study one of his courses. It was a completely irrelevant waste of time and fees for anyone other than the 3 -5 students that needed it. This is the power Uni has over students, they can consume your time and money for what is best for them, students are just cash cows. The lecturer was hella smart and a top tier researcher but he was completely unsuited to teaching undergraduate students. He didn't want to be there, students had no idea why they were there - an education disaster. I am convinced every student automatically passed the subject. 20 years later if I need to learn a new skill it is almost exclusively done thru platforms like Courserra, Udemy etc. Uni's need to upgrade their business model.
