Absolutely. I currently maintain a pretty intense study plan for the languages I am learning and/or maintaining and refining (Learning 2, maintaining/polishing 2) but in order to develop the habit I started out very small because consistency in way more important than intensity and you can very gradually add time to your routine once you’ve established the habit, the addiction to consistency which ensures success more than anything.

I believe that you need to be interested in the culture of the very country, then everything seems to be much easier. I still haven’t been able to come back to Russia since I started learning Russian (pandemic, war) but I am currently travelling through Norway and Finland, finally met some Russians on my way and now I can see that it was worth it (despite the fact that I hate some parts of Russian grammar lol). I would like to hear your tips on how to improve pronunciation as mine is very strong (someone said it’s like Caucasian accent)

Having a big interest in the culture is a prerequisite! Otherwise someone won't stick with it long enough. Though this interest also grows the more time you spend on learning the language.

As someone who has been studying Russian for 1 year now with 1.5 hour of study each day, this is how I have been studying -- The number one mistake that people make is learning from text books. Yes, sure they have their place however you want to speak Russian so why not actually practice talking?! I barely focus on grammar ( yes, I know grammar is important ) but I believe when learning russian for the first year, you need to learn as much vocabulary as possible. And then use your vocabulary to start speaking. This is my daily routine - Learn 5 new words every day Use Pimsleur Russian to boost your conversational skills. Revise your vocabulary. Revise 50 words each day. And lastly practice talking to yourself in Russian for 5-10 min each day. “Сегодня я проснулся восем часов. Я бы тренажёрный зал. После этого я купил еда и Обедал. Я тоже говорил красива русская девушка. Может быт однажды у меня будет девушка 😁 etc etc Hope this helps !
@LearntheRussianLanguage
@LearntheRussianLanguage 2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a good plan. Though don't go overboard with the "grammar isn't important" mindset. Try to listen to a bit of a grammar podcast/lesson every day for 10 minutes (russianpod101, michel thomas, russian made easy etc.)

@@LearntheRussianLanguage I’m thinking about purchasing your course. Would you say it would be beneficial for me even though I have my own structured routine ? Learning 5 new words Revising vocabulary daily Speaking to myself for 10 min each day in Russian. Currently on level 3 of pimsleur russian

@LearntheRussianLanguage
@LearntheRussianLanguage 2 жыл бұрын
@@tomjacobs8527 The course is mainly useful for 2 types of people:' - people who have trouble creating a structured approach to learning all aspects of Russian simultaneously. - people that struggle speaking and having conversations. It seems you're already taking a structured approach (though it won't hurt to spend more time practicing), so it all depends on how happy you are with your speaking ability.

@@nicolmateo38 Living in a Russian-speaking country can definitely help you speak better. But it's not a magic pill. It's more of an amplifier. If you can spend an hour per day learning Russian while not in Russia, then moving there will drastically improve the speed at which you will learn. But if someone is not practicing, moving to a Russian-speaking country will not help as much as they think.
