HOW TO: Leather Seat Cover Replacement | Acura RSX OEM+ Build

In today's video, we find the solution for TORN Acura RSX Leather Seat Bottoms! Richmond Auto Upholstery makes Genuine OEM Style Replacement Leather Covers to fix rips and tears in factory leather seats. So we're off to McDowell's Speciality Repair to transform these worn seats back to new again!
The Acura RSX are notoriously known for having ripped and torn leather seats. So I scoured the internet to try and find a way to fix and restore the seats back to new. Richmond Auto Upholstery makes leather seat cover replacement for a ton of makes and models, but I was STOKED to find some direct-fit RSX covers. After getting these in the mail, I was blown away by the build quality and the feel of the leather.
Now normally, I would attempt a DIY seat cover replacement, but I figured for the sake of the video we would do it right. So I took them down to my local upholstery shop, where Luke shows us how to replace the covers AND do a professional foam bolster repair. All said and done, these seats look NEW again! I found automotive seat upholstery to be oddly satisfying, and Luke did a fantastic job explaining everything.

It helped and was a good confirmation of the service manual. A bit light on the tough spots but with the manual and this video I took the covers off. But then decided to take it to a auto upholstery shop to put the cover on the foam. I will reattach and install. So it cost me $350 for the cover and another $75 to attach the foam. $425 each, not cheap for just the bottom of the seat.

Anthony! There is another way to remove the SRS light without having to remove and cut all the wiring or having a janky method of bypassing. Certain EP3 si’s had SRS modules that didn’t have side airbags, these modules can be swapped over and used to bypass the SRS light in the RSX. Although it is too late now to utilize this method, I thought you should know in case you ever want to put in Type R Recaros!

@@ALLDAYANTHONY yes you’d have to replace the whole module from the rsx SRS module to the ep3 module. It’s almost a complete plug and play except for minor filing of plastic clips

Acura RSX, TL, etc.... my TL needs much love on the inside. From the dash, to the door panels, carpets, upholstery, etc... ive got an 06 TL (tan) but I managed to use new foam seats and new foam backing with new bottom and back covers, using the hog rings helped a lot. But my rear seats are beginning to be a pain :( plus I'm at a loss at how to replace the dash without having to take out the entire dashboard :/

I had a 05 Type S too and my driver seat bottom was torn and i ended up finding a pair of MINT 04 leather seats for $60 and just did a direct swap. Glad you are sharing both the company you bought the leather seat bottom from as well as the upholstery shop that did the work. Thx for sharing. Looking forward to another upload.

Can you do a rear bottom seat upholstery replacement on a 2005 RSX with the plastic insert in the middle.i cannot see how to get the original cover unattached from the foam. I have all of the visible hog rings off and I have found the two prefabricated holes to get a tool or something in but I don't want to make it unusable.HELP PLEASE!!

Also.. there is a sensor in the passenger seat... Its in the upper back under a zipper.. Its called an OPDS sensor. Matter fact, they differ from the 02-04 to the 05-06 seats.. I put 06 seats in my car, and had to swap the sensor from my 03, or it would give me that dreaded SRS light

I own a 2002 EP3 Si, and the swede on the seats are, although very sporty and enticing, very poor quality... My drivers side seat has a huge gaping tear in the left seatback bolstering, and the left seat base is on its way out. I've been looking everywhere for OEM replacement swede for those seats, but I can't find it anywhere... not even on Honda's own parts page.
