How to Lift Subject From iPhone Photo and Remove Background with Photo App Cutout Feature

You can cut out photos on iPhone easily inside the native photos app in iOS 16. Simply tap and hold to highlight a subject and lift them from the background. You can then drag and drop the photo subject into another app, or you can copy subject from the photo or share directly. This is a very easy way to now remove background on iPhone photos!
Use this photo cut out feature in iOS 16 and paste it into a message, WhatsApp, and email, your Notes app and much more. You can even get creative and create a cartoon or sticker using the subject with background removed. It's a simple and very fun tool to use!
This works with old photos, new photos, photos inside Safari, and you can even do it with photos from other web browsers, such as Google Chrome.

Mine did the same so I lifted myself from the pic and inserted it on a plain pink background first, then moved it onto the black background. The white lines were no longer there.

I had the same issue. Figured out that the way to do it is to open the photo then click the “forward” icon at the top. Then, select “copy” from the options and then send it to wherever you like. I don’t know why the isolate subject is default…really goofy. It was driving me nuts! 😳
