Kino Flo with diffusion taped on is a bad choice for the key light because of the amount of spill. You don't need to place the key light so far overhead like that if you just use a soft box that has an "egg crate" to control the light spill. You can then also achieve this effect in a smaller studio space.

this looks really crunchy, I'd use a softer source and ND's instead of dialing back the ISO so you do not loose the dynamic range. The shadows in his face and the highlights look very harsh, maybe that came into play there. Just a thought.

Wouldn't a fresnel attachment/light be more effective instead of the top down view which would take some grip time?
