I tried this with a 2 ft X 3 ft black foam core and continuous lights and a scrim screen, and then also with a piece of black hand-painted cardboard that is about 20in X 30in with a 42 inch brolly umbrella and flash. It worked great with both. Thank you for posting. Cheers from Canada.

I recently used a dark theme with a b & w closeup photo where you can see barely see the edges of the face/head via the lighted fine hairs of the face. I will be trying to do that in a fun shoot later 😊 I like the simplicity of your setup and a definitely worthy addition to nice simple useful lighting setups.
