Any tips on how to work with smaller, more run-and-gun style lighting? Like If I just had 2 or 3 Aputure MC's and need to create a quick interview setup in a room?
@Rene_Arseneau
@Rene_Arseneau 2 ай бұрын
Thats a great question! I used the MC's a lot on my documentary show and I love them as accent lighting, but I never used them as primary lights. I know the new MC pro are like 4 times more powerful so It might be a new thing. But since the light source is so small, the light will be harsh on your subject, so I would firstly try to make your mc light larger, so bounce it on a wall or a bounce so get a larger and softer light (Larger is always better in lighting) It will give you a nice soft light. Do that for both your Key and fill light and then have a harsh back light. Or use a diffuser and shine the light through, but then you want the MC to fill in completely the diffuser so you make the light source larger. That's what I learned when working with bigger light, is the quality of the softness is so much better and looks great on the skintone. So if 3 MC is all you go, you can make it work, but only in rooms where you have no sunlight. If you have to compete with the sun, then you need something much much stronger, and for those projects I would recommend you rent a bigger light, until you can justify buying it :) hope that helps!

What's the best budget for lighting to get similar effect with your video
@Rene_Arseneau
@Rene_Arseneau Ай бұрын
Well for this Exact setup It will cost you around 2500$ But these are all lights I acquired over time, so I would suggest to just start with one light, but if you want to buy all in one go, you could go for a more budget option and get of 1500$ and get the Amaran 200x, 100x the new MC Pro's, the Apurture Light Dome SE and 2 Amazon Light stands and thats a really good start. But if you are just getting started, I would just start with the 200X and the light dome and a stand, that would bring you to about 750 CAD and one light really makes a huge difference, then you can use house lamps in the background to add a bit of color with LED colored bulbs, Hope that helps! :)
