Fantastic results. I'm planning to use this PPG system on a ground up Resto .. Question is on the TDS of the epotec grey/green epoG55 ( I believe you use?), it says to use 971 9119 metal conditioner ( under previously painted surfaces) which on 971 9119 TDs says apply epoxy within 30 mins .. I'm little confused as to why it didn't recommend the deoxidine you used .. because the one you used is 4 hours to get it in primer and 9719119 is 30 mins.. Will this be an issue? Sorry just a bit confused and new to PPG system.. Thank you

Hi, the difference is that I’m using the DP 616 epoxy from the Deltron range. The Epotec is an industrial epoxy. This is not my recommendation for resto work. Cheers H

Did this couple years ago with 75% phosphoric acid on scrap sheet metal. Just wiped on then off with a dry rag. Not the right way probably should neutralise the acid been sitting on a shelf in my garage in Melbourne still no rust.

Hi astill does the deoxidine kill the rust in the deeper pitted bits where blasting isn’t an option or is good for surface rust only
@AstillDesign3 жыл бұрын
It phosphic acid based and will convert rust(oxidised metal) however if it is exposed to air and water it will potentially continue to rust. Have a look at the bonnet Resorations series I have done and it will show deoxidise plus another product.
@icarusdb585 ай бұрын
yep , that's my method , deoxidine , etch prime
@poydapoyderson6463 жыл бұрын
So apart from panel wipe, does it need removing before painting?
@AstillDesign3 жыл бұрын
No it doesn’t, done correctly to the data sheet it should be done just prior to painting, prepsol and or metho wipe.

Yeah Narr never liked deoxadean the water 💦 bit scares me I’d rather use a wizza and 120 180 clean it with GP thinners and epoxy it straight away I’ve actually found using straight panatrol brush on bare lasts way longer and wipes off with thinners easy no water 💦 needed
