Came across your tutorial today as I have just sewn an open front jacket and wasn't planning to put any lining in it as it is made with a knit fabric. However, the style of the jacket has a curved front requiring the seams to be notched /clipped and the front facing/finishing piece is only 1.5 inches wide when sewn on. Not happy with how unfinished it looks so now I'm going to line it and already have the pieces ready to go. thank you for this well-present tutorial - it has been a big help in determining how to go about attaching it. The only thing I plan to do differently is to not stitch across the bottom hem. After the fronts and neckline are attached I will then turn it up and hand stitch that edge into place.

Athough, I'm watching this many years later, it has proven to be a excellent approach to inserting a jacket/coat lining. When sewing I've been applying the patterns instructions approach. I've found it so what time consuming and tricky at times. Thank you, Thank you so much for a simpler alternative.

Thanks! Yes, I think the patterns have you go through a lot of hand sewing🤦🏽♀️

Does your coat pattern have to be one that has a lining? or can you take any coat/jacket pattern and do this lining method? Thank you for sharing this!!! I had never seen this before :-)

So is the lining the same size at the coat?
@SewingWithMinaLolita Жыл бұрын
Yes, and I’ve no issues. But, a lining should be a tiny bit smaller.

I really don’t know what happened along the inside of the lapel!
@SewingWithMinaLolita2 жыл бұрын
Hi Janice- in this video I am showing the bag method of lining, so the lapel was previously attached during construction. When doing a lining the lapel is not affected, its all inside.
