Explain more, saying that doesn't tell me the problem.

I'm really struggling to get this one working. I've setup DVSwitch as per instruction. Still can't get it to work. The log file says that everything is connected etc. One question: How do you define what DMR TG it's bound to?

Is usrp connected, is your private node connected?

@@hamradionetworking Thanks for getting back to me. I think I've sorted it. It was a port issue. Doing some more testing. Thanks. M

Here is the beef- why connect ASL and DMR? Why would anyone in their right mind spend possibly hundreds of dollars for a new radio that sounds like crap, has an unnecessary overly complicated interconnection system that few people use? I ask because mine is sitting in a drawer with a probably dead battery. Yeah, I took the bait about 3 years ago and gave up. We don't need DMR. There are 'dead' repeaters everywhere. Bandwidth and crowding is a joke excuse. ASL makes sense - use the radio you probably already own, build a node from junk parts and enjoy clear, better fidelity audio. My node 50377 (20W @ 35ft) has been up since Nov '19 and usually connected to east coast hub. Few use my local node but I get many comments about listening enjoyment. At least the airwaves are being used. I hear many DMR connections on the east coast hub. Just listen - they are lonely because no one is on the DMR networks and ASL is where the action is. DMR connected to ASL is a real sore spot with me - Why should I be forced to listen to their crappy audio on a analog network? Interconnection might be a good idea but only in an emergency situation. YSF - Maybe. But still there is the added cost. Our local 146.91 club machine has YSF but no one ever uses it. At least the audio is a tad more tolerable compared to DMR. DMR doesn't sound like crap if you set it up right, YSF & DMR have zero cost when connecting it to allstar via dvswitch, it's useful for people wanting to make their own private multi-mode system. Some people like DMR, if you don't that's fine.

Hey KT0TT, I totally agree with Collin. There's nothing wrong with digital radios, I think they're awesome and they sound great once you take the time to optimize your setup. I own a multi-mode repeater system that links together Allstar, Echolink, IRLP, DMR, YSF Reflector, Wires-X, P25, NXDN, D-STAR, M17, Zello, Hamshack Hotline, and Hams Over IP, and guess what? The system sounds great and everyone on it, regardless if they're using analog or digital radios, all sound very good. You, person that typed a million word comment, are so wrong about DMR being dead. DMR is very much alive and well. You are also wrong about DMR radios being expensive. While it's true that some DMR radios are very expensive, there are plenty of DMR radios that are very cheap, but sound just as good as an expensive radio once you tweak your audio settings. As for YSF, it also sounds great and is also very active too. For my concern, you're just one of those sad hams that don't like digital technology and you wanna yell at a kid for having fun setting up a digital link to an analog system. You, KT0TT, are a prime example of a typical "karen". Let us lovers of digital technology have fun, okay? There is no need to whine and complain about it like the sad ham and karen you are.

I setup the XLX941 DMR and YSF reflector on a Debian Linode cloud computer. I would like to setup an AllStarLink ASL3 hub and permanently link the XLX DMR and YSF reflector to the ASL3 hub. Does this require two Debian computers, one for the XLX DMR and YSF reflector and the other Debian computer for the ASL3 hub? Or can you run both the XLX DMR and YSF and the ASL3 hub on one Debian computer? It sounds like the linking or bridging can be done without the need for AMBE devices on the XLX Reflector. Dave KY0L
