How to Liquid Fill Pressure Gauges in the Field

Many industrial pressure gauges are designed to allow for liquid filling in the case. The liquid dampens shock and vibration as well as eliminates condensation or fogging that may prevent clear reading of the gauge dial. In this video, we show you the tools and methods to liquid fill a variety of different style pressure gauges.

Can I install a liquid filled water pressure gauge in any position? I am concerned that the small void / air bubble will not allow me to see an accurate reading should the needle fall within that bubble.

Thanks for the question Robert. Yes, you can install the gauge in a non-upright position. There may be some visual distortion, but typically it isn't so great to impact accurate reading of the pointer.

My pressure gauge is lying horizontally. Should the rubber nipple still be cut if lying horizontally? I'm afraid if I vent it the liquid will spill out since the gauge is not vertical.

Sometimes it's not possible to clip the plug and vent the case. That's fine. Just know that if your gauge is lower pressure (less than 0-30psi) you might have some accuracy issues without the case vented, especially if it's installed outdoors.
