I challenged myself to this test a year ago, and was pretty disappointed that I was way off on most of my answers. It was daunting. But I've put many hours in the studio since then, and upon revisiting this video for another honest approach, my score has significantly improved! There needs to be more content like this on youtube. When it comes to developing skills like this, there unfortunately is no shortcut. It takes the hours and the commitment to learn how to listen.

i learned i am terrible at noticing compression. Closing my eyes i can't even tell when the compression is turned on/off unless it was -20 dB

Well the best possible way to notice it is by its needle , i generally got a rule of thumb that ratios 2 witha trasheold of 15-50 db is ok to me is better not to hear it becuase compression is just to make vocals not pop?

Definitively compresion is easier to hear for me than frequency ranges, because even the most transparent compressors introduce harmonics, so the tonality does change.

I came here with confidence and answered every question wrong except the do you hear compression one but really is there any reason to hearing gain reduction specially with output gain adjustment? cause in my process I just do what I want with compressor and then at the last moments I adjust threshold in a healthy place...so doesn't matter if it is a lot of gain reduction or a little when you don't destroy or change the sound too much is there any other reason? I really wanna know cause I wanna get better if I'm blind to some points somewhere

Can it be, that this is more difficult with headphones than with e.g. studio monitors? I find judging the volume difficult with headphones.
