My secret Is how managing your worries. Worry, in italian, is "preoccupazione". It's a long word made of two words that literally mean "occupying before". Worries usually OCCUPY your mind BEFORE the right time. You have to face up to your troubles in the right time. You don't have to keep occupying your mind with future troubles. The eyes of imagination see more serious troubles than they really will be.

When I get asked by friends and family in England what am I doing in mid August 2027, I tend to want to say: “ How the heck do I know? I don’t even know if I will be alive so far ahead! “. But I keep polite and say that it’s too far ahead to know and we can discuss it in a couple of years! I just cannot believe that people think so far ahead. And yet they do. Not here though. I prefer how it is here. I hope I didn’t think so far ahead when I lived in London. Maybe I did. Food is number 1 in the whole of Italy. The top priority and can be made with the simplest of ingredients. I am happy that you have acquired another culture and that you are really appreciating it and understand more about life in general and about your own self. I did get some insights to this because I did Italian literature at school and beyond but to come here and experience it first hand makes it real. North, centre or south, I think the people are welcoming in each area. I have lived in all 3. I feel at home anywhere in Italy. This episode is philosophically lovely. I enjoyed listening to your words here, Claire.

In mountain communities in Italy every place is open 7 days per week. The pace is slower but constant. You get the old fashioned shop that shuts for lunch ( 2 hours ) but most do not. The shop is their home so when you go to a shop you really feel at home and you always have a chat and catch up or talk about situations that arise. The shops are family run so at lunch time there is always someone to hold the fort. I can compare London to Milan or Florence and the bigger Italian cities but nothing beats life in a mountain community in Italy. It is an oasis. A totally different lifestyle. Realistic but totally different to being in a city. The weather is different. if it snows the roads are cleaned before you wake up. There is no way that you will be stuck at home and get a few days off work. These communities are so equipped that they help the cities to clean up with their machinery and staff in times of freak weather such as snow. Helicopters to deal with fires in the forests. The place is monitored very closely to keep the population safe. The climate is different but with more sun than in the valleys because high up the sun shines from sunrise over the clouds in the valleys that clear around 11:30 am in winter. No frost at altitude due to the trees. It’s like living in another country with the benefits of a mild climate with few extreme situations that can occur but do very rarely.

Among the "culture shocks" experienced by foreigners in Italy (and in Germany), it is often mentioned on KZbin that shops are closed on Sundays, probably because Italians are lazy (although this is not always the case in big cities or tourist spots). However, now we're glad you've finally discovered the positive aspects of taking a day off to recharge your batteries.

It’s simply a difference in culture which when you come from a culture that is fast paced and doesn’t stop - it takes you by surprise. However with time, you come to appreciate and recognize the importance of slowing down.

The us is even more intense than the uk. Example you see Christmas trees and stuff in stores in October. People's behavior here is Intense and stressful. Most major us cities and even many smaller one have a high crime rate which make people stressed and scared and intense

If you ask me, my long term goal is to die. Having clear in mind my final destination, all i can say is that i don’t want to arrive at that moment full of thoughts about things to do, things to avoid, things that i shoul have done or avoided, desires, regrets, complaints. I don’t want to “ stay hungry, stay foolish “ and die like a dog. I prefere to stay in contact with every single second of my life. I prefere to enlarge my life instead of extending it.
