I used to be on keppra years ago and I felt like I was going crazy and it was so bad. I'm glad I'm no longer on it but yeah really bad side effects towards that medication.

After a tonic clonic seizure depression seems worse. Is this because of the actual seizure activity?

I have a serious question for you doctor what happens if you are on depression medicine and seizure medicine and it's still not helping because they are in a situation where family is toxic and you don't want to be around them but yet they're not helping the situation can you make a video on what to do about that also for people that might be struggling with it to plz

Marysa, I agree with you it can be difficult... Having a supportive and understanding surrounding is essential for recovery. Constant stress can be a cause for depression. Make sure you are on the right medications and discuss with your neurologist and psychiatrist if needed... Thank you for sharing your thoughts

in addition to what you discussed here, i would also add good old fashioned fear. I spend 75% of my day alone and do not have a rock solid network of dependable people to check on me. Since being diagnosed I have never been more scared in my life, about what is to come and the unknown as it relates to getting this under control. It is a strange and hard to deal with idea that you are in danger all the time no matter what you feel like, and the part of you causing the danger is also what you rely on to ask for help or warn you of that impending danger is completely unreliable. Its terrifying and after living with it for almost 3 years now there is no doubt it has changed me for the worse. I am working on it like everyone else, does their own problems of course, but sometimes i think people forget or just cant really understand what its like to have this "sword of damocles" hanging over your head all the time.

@@DrOmarDanoun so its been 8 months and im taking 2x 100mg in the morning, i started with 1x 100mg. I feel mutch better than with keppra. i rarely have little epilepsie for 1-2 seconds in the night but i had that with keppra sometimes too. I have a depression and i think Lamotrigin helps a little bit. I had much more depression with Keppra, at the beginning i had diarrhea a little bit, but after 4 months it was away, but sometimes i have to go 2 times on the toilet, thats the only side effect thats not that great. i really can recomment Lamotrigin.

why do people say depression only affects 5 - 15% of the population. that doesnt make sense. depression affects 100% of the population. its so high that they had to make a phone number for it called "988" and most people choose not to use it cause it wont solve the problem. you CANNOT remove big episodes of sadness in life. you can set goals and achieve all of them and still be 0% happier than when you first started your goals (sadly). the issue is that its in the human biology to experience big episodes of sadness. we are no different than wild animals. animals eat each other ALIVE and would go through so much suffering. both sides experience pleasure and suffering at some point. the animal that is eating the other will experience dopamine reward while eating and the animal that is suffering will have a good near death experience after dying. the animal that is eating the other WILL also suffer at some point in the future as well. he can suffer with depression, fear, anxiety, pain, or anything very bad. the biggest issue is that we humans are no different. we suffer with these kinds of problems and we arent wild animals anymore. we will get big episodes of sadness for even the smallest conflicts. the goal is to get rid of the suffering and the only way to do so is by reprogramming the brain to be normal/happy. this can be done so with brain implants. if you can get rid of one problem, there will ALWAYS be another problem. for example, if someone is standing out in cold weather, they may get big episodes of anger for not bringing a jacket outside but it also depends on their mood and time of day. if you were to bring that person inside then they will just suffer with big episodes of anger at something else ( can be anything ) but both sides will suffer with episodes of anger and sadness. i had come to realize that there might be a 50/50 law of good/bad where "good cannot exist without bad". humans arent designed to be happy. this means 50% of the time you will be happy, and 50% of the time you will be sad/suffer. i tried asking myself "do i want to be alive at this very current moment or would i rather be in emptiness/dead/sleep. 50% of the time i said emptiness and the other 50% i said alive. so humans are designed to be neutral in terms of being happy and suffering
