The funds have to 'season' in her account for a year in order to qualify for residency based on savings. Also, it's questionable how much of a HELOC she could get given how modest her monthly income is. Perhaps a reverse mortgage could be a solution 😊 Or just sell the home already and let the funds season for 1 year.

One thing sally could to is transfer het savings into a new bank account (the one she is going to show the mexican government) on a monthly basis. She has $20k, so that's $3333.33 per month. She could also have her SS going into the same account. If she only had $3500, she could withdraw cash weekly, convert it to a postal money order and redeposit making it look like income. I am not a financial planner, my comments are for entertainment purposes only.

Sally would need to do your plan for at least 12 months. It is required to show monthly statements of your accounts. He says six months but they really want 12.

@@calistatejobcoach - actually it’s changed. My bad. Phoenix consulate requires $2500 a month. McAllen is now $2800 a month. And it depends on which consulate you go to as to whether they require 6 months or 12 months bank statements. I just looked it up again for about the 6th time. It does change with time so due diligence, like you said, is a must. I was just pointing out 12 months was required when I last checked at the McAllen, TX consulate. Should also add that’s after taxes are taken out.

While mostly IT IS about meeting qualifications, the part about the immigration interviewing agent IS definately true. It can come down to the basic fact that said agent may not take a liking to the applicant for w/e reason, I have personally witnessed this on "both sides of the line" (Mexican immigration/US immigration) various times. I once helped translate for an elderly (80s+) Mexican couple applying for a visa to visit family in USA. They had forgotten to bring ALL of the necessary financial staements, the Immigration agent just looked at them, looked at me & said "well it's not like their going to go apply to work for Wall St.". He then stamped their Visa apps approved. Another time I was again helping translate for another couple (younger this time, mid 40s, 30s, 3 kids). The father was very frustrated from the ordeal (getting passport pics, copies, long wait times in lines) he fully covered all requirements above & beyond. He unfortunately blurted out "danmed gringos & their endless beurocracy to in the end just do w/e they want". Unbeknownst to us the door to the back part of the office was ajar, shortly after the immigration agent came in didn't even look at the folder w/paperwork & said "you're very right Mr. so & so it comes down to my discretion & I don't think I like your attitude" stamps the folder face Disapproved & ends with " better luck in 5yrs & ty for the $20k USD, in the future I suggest you mind your surroundings before making blanket derrogatory statements". On the other side (Mexican immigration) I was again translating this time for an expat neighbor (65) who had temp residency & was applying for permanent. She gathered all necessary bank statements, printed out & filled all forms. We went to the Mexican immigration office met w/the agent w/whom she established an immediate rapport, she got her forms stamped was told to go pay the fees at a nearby bank & come back w/the receipt of payment. once done that the agent said they had a cpl weeks backlog for application reviews & she'd be receiving an email w/her next appointment date. a month or so later she gets her appt date we again travel to the office, but this time she's attended by another agent as the previous agent was on vacation. This agent was younger, & more brash & basically gave my neighbor a hard time because of her lack of spanish saying that if it was up to him he'd deny this application but would approve her for another temp term so she could "learn the language" of the country she intended to become her new home. in the end her review had been given positive review by the previous agent & he was just in charge of taking the file to his boss for signing so she basically was approved. This was 4yrs ago & her spanish whilst improved is basically just above atrocious but she continues making an effort LOL. Mind your p's & q's kids & always be aware of your surroundings.

When I first applied for residency at the Consulate in Toronto they told me that the proof of income was to prove that you could support yourself living in Mexico. As you show in this video falsifying your actual ongoing income just makes no sense. Saver Sally will have zippo to sell In Mexico so her income does not qualify. She could also have just transferred amounts every month from her savings. Again, not ongoing income. When I first applied back in 2017 my pensions fell just short but thanks to the GST tax rebate deposits I did squeak through. As much as I would love to live out my life in Mexico the income requirements have now doubled so Mexico doesn't want anymore Canadian pensioners. Our measly pensions that leave us below the current poverty level, let alone with food costs inflation, went up .01%, yes, that's point one percent, not doubled. Mexico used to be the number one country to retire in. Not anymore.

Good question! She could do either one of those things as well. But if she sold it she would have to wait a year after getting the cash into her account because you have to show 12 months of statements showing that you met the minimum amount every single month.

You need to have a video about the new way to get a visitor visa with no financials needed! All you need is an expired FMM for a program started during COVID. I went to immigration and have my interview today for temporary residency for 4 years, no renewal. Then automatically turns into permanent in 4 years. No interview at consulate in the US either!

That's not entirely true. It depends on the consulate requirements where you go in the US. I had to prove my income was going to be made remotely through a letter from my boss with also a copy of his drivers license! I was pretty shocked but it wasn't as easy as proving 6 months deposits. Best advice- Find a Professional Mexican Immigration facilitator and they will tell you what the requirements are in your state for free.

Why wouldn’t you just open an llc in Wyoming or SD. Open up a few credit cards with 0% into bonuses. Send the money from your 0% apr card to your llc using plastiq. Then slowly transfer the funds back to your personal bank account. The fee would be 2.9% but with some banks paying over 5% you should be able to easily break even. You could do the same thing with a heloc if “saver sally” had a paid for house

Thanks Jordan... Usd 3К is a lot of money for a Canadian. I feel like it is unreasonably high for a single person considering that Mexico is supposed to be more affordable to live in. It is also not easy to sell things for so much unless you are ok getting 10-30% of the cost. I've been trying to sell clothes on poshmark, craigslist, fb marketplace & groups, it is super time-consuming as is often not worth the effort imo unless selling in bulk. Yet not my experience. Maybe ability to sell varies.

I don't know if it's true. Also, there's a difference between something being law and actually being accepted in practice. So it could be one of those things where it is on the books as a real law but the consulates don't know about it or don't care that it exists and therefore don't follow it.

If struggling to meet financial solvency requirements as a couple, the best option for a married couple is often to have just one person apply for residency. And then after the first person´s process is complete, the 2nd partner files for residency based on family unity (no financial requirements). To make the one first partner´s application even more bulletproof you may want to open a new bank account under just the name of the one person and have the income going into there. Because sometimes, if both names are on a bank account, the consulate divides the amount of money in there by 2 to determine if you qualify.

On the morally acceptable question -- the only potential question I see is whether running out of money in Mexico (having a medical emergency, for instance) would put a person in a difficult or threatening situation more so than if they stayed in the states. It's a person's choice to take the risk. And I don't think it would be worse for most to get sick in Mexico, but... Not sure. ONLY consultant requires you to have 12 month of savings in a bank/ investment with records for £45,000 at today's exchange rate that is $56,938 dollars or £2,600 ($3,825) income which you have to supply wage slips and show on 12 months of bank statements with a employer official letter stating you will continue to be employed while in Mexico for the next six months. So count your selves very very lucky. Ripe off Britain at its best.

Temporary residency is 4 years what you really want would be permanent residency. With no residency all you have to do is exit and enter Mexico and they give you 6 months visa. While in Mexico no one has ever checked my visa. If caught you pay a small bribe and the actual fine I believe is under $100. Does one necessarily even need the residency?

Without residency you won’t be able to register a car, open a bank account, get a credit card, or even rent many homes in the non touristy cities

Ecuador has no cartels no political conflicts, mostly mild weather, a few Pros compared to Mexico. Their residency issue though requires staying 21 out of 24 months in Ecuador in the two years preceding applying for permanent residency (with an allowance of 90 days abroad per year) which Mexico of course doesn't require.

It's a gamble. While some may have done that and gotten the result they were after, others would not. I just read one person's blog from March this year where they said that the Mexiccan person interpreted the income rules such that it wasn't sufficient that the minimum amount was going THROUGH the account every month, but that it was a stable balance every month. In such a scenario, taking money out only to re-deposit the next day would be interpreted as *through* but not *stable.* And for that, some could be denied residence. Here's the relevant snippet: _"The second time we applied, we didn’t need to include our daughter, so that reduced the requirements a bit. Thank goodness I had my retirement fund statements accessible from my phone because I had to supply 24 statements from two accounts. This was after they interpreted the income requirements in a strange way I’ve never seen before, saying I had to have the minimum amount _*_*sitting in*_*_ my checking account every month instead of _*_*flowing through*_*_ it, even though no sane person leaves that much sitting in a checking account each month unless they’re a billionaire. After getting approved at the consulate in your home country you have 180 days to enter Mexico on your conditional visa. After entering Mexico, you have 30 days to start the rest of the process at an INM (immigration) office. There, you fill out a couple of forms, pay them a few hundred dollars, they take your picture, fingerprint you, then give your your residency card.

Yes, you can work in Mexico if you have residency. Just chat with a lawyer when you get here. A meeting with a lawyer is affordable here and you’ll get set up quickly.

This may be akin to your final point, but can you transfer money from your savings into your bank account each month, as needed, to meet the requirements? My financial situation resembles Saver Sally, so I would not be recycling the same money each month but simply making six months of transfers without reimbursing my savings account. Also, can you use a sole proprietor business account to show income to the consulate?

As for your first question, I don't know. As for the second question, in my personal experience, and to the best of my knowledge with other people's experience, they have no problem with people showing business revenue, regardless of how that business is organized.

@@TangerineTravels I'm confused about this "recycling money" topic you discussed in the last couple of minutes of the video, Jordan. I'm like Sally Saver and thought about Kona Zonie's example. I will be retired and have no debt but a good chunk of change in the bank but my SS# isn't going be enough (and I'm 63 and want hold off taking it out anyway until I can get the 100% of it) so my thought, while watching the video, is to open an account at a Mexican bank and just wire money from my American account into it every month. Maybe that isn't even an option but I think it used to be. If all they care about is income then would that work? And it's not the same as "recycling money," is it?

I asked MX Consulate in my state about having a SSA snd a business income that exceeded the minimum. They told me the number has to be from only one source- not combining any 2 sources.
