Congratulations Chris. I also own a restoration boat. I purchased the former kentucky governor's yacht. She is a 67' steel motor yacht. I have a lifetime worth of work to do. I enjoy ever moment working on her. She is docked on old hickory lake near Nashville TN. Good luck.

Great advice for all of the people who have plans to live on their own cruise ship.
@jonathanleonard11523 жыл бұрын
Please understand the difference between: Ocean liner, Cruise ship. An Ocean liner is capable of crossing oceans in a wide variety of weather. A Cruise ship is designed to take vacationers to fair weather ports. The Ocean liner sacrifices capacity for maximum seaworthy aspects. A Cruise ship maximizes capacity for seaworthy or stability in a wide variety of weather. This difference can be seen in the lines and height of the ship. Ocean liners are lower and sleeker, looking like tall waves will not worry the crew. Cruise ships are taller and have more above the water line bulk, they look like a lot of people looking to have a good time in nice weather. There are very few Ocean liners, there are many Cruise ships. SS Aurora is an Ocean liner

My Dad used to do a "Pilots Check" no matter what the mechanic said as he felt there is no "oops" from ten feet up. The same applies to ships/boats. At least every month do a full ship walk about with clip board/cell phone and check off with notes/date/ observation like : hmmm, same status, need to prioritize, oh mold, was that a poodle sized rat etc. No memory is perfect, a couple hrs, a full day once a month, no cheating, a full check, is as good as bottom insurance and you won't violate the ship "oops" from ten feet down and see your baby sink (metaphorically) or actually.

Can you please ask Chris is he plans to restore the propulsion system for Aurora? Also would be great if he develops partnerships with ship modernization suppliers for the cruise industry many which are now idle with surplus available of materials and labor. I am sure many would be thrilled to be part of this project and get the ship’s interiors and technical systems ship shape!
