Kate Raworth, Co-founder of Doughnut Economics Action Lab and well-known author, invites us all to draw one big circle in the air with our finger, followed by a smaller circle inside. Together we can draw the “essentials of life”…..
It is of the upmost importance to have ‘people focused’ economics and create a safe space where everyone has enough but not too little. Kate shares “leave no one in the hole, and don’t push anyone over the limit”.
Kate advocates the importance of collaboration. The best way to do this, she suggested is through play. It’s at this point that the audience is asked to join together in song to help us better understand the ideology behind doughnut economics.
Kate Raworth is a renegade economist focused on making economics fit for the 21st century. Her book Doughnut Economics: seven ways to think like a 21st century economist is an international bestseller that has been translated into 18 languages. She is co-founder of Doughnut Economics Action Lab, which works with change-makers worldwide to turn Doughnut Economics from a radical idea into transformative action. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Beautiful talk, It gave me a great glimpse into the Donut Action Lab, thaks to those picturesshowing people celebrating their vision of the Donut. How far the Donut already reached ! Special gratitude to the speaker, Kate Raworth, for taking the risk (and the pleasure) of changing her usual academic approach for an open-hearted talk. LET US CELEBRATE !!!

marvelous and brave, was great to see the Maori version of the Doughnut. For those unfamiliar with Kate Raworth's project it might be better to start with some of her earlier talks as this one seems to presume a bit of familiarity with the ideas (a fair assumption after 10 years of work).

Pragmatism in economic policymaking involves considering real-world constraints, acknowledging diverse perspectives, and iteratively adjusting strategies based on evidence and feedback. It's an ongoing process that requires adaptability and responsiveness to changing circumstances, it looks a brilliant theoretical idea but Is it Pragmatic?? for instance, the cost of climate change is about $25 trillion per year, plus education, healthcare, and infrastructure. my skepticism lies in the ability to think does it solve the problem of inequality and other issues?????
