I don't understand why so many comments saying load the mattresses last. I almost never loaded them last. A seasoned mover/loader does not need them to tie off the load at the end. There are several items that can be used to wall the tier off for strapping down. I like to use them with large glass pieces or mirrors in between the mattresses, and that could be anywhere in the load

must be a local job. the attic was too loose, and ya' wanna start your straps a tier early so when they tighten, they shouldn't move. on the floor you should high/ low straps and mattress make a good tie off so everything square to the roof. run out of cartons and topfill, bunch pads/skins to tighten load. claims can negate profits from the job. The heaviest doesn't mean the sturdiest. The heaviest can be the most fragile and things should be loaded based on how breakable they are, not based on weight. Also never turn a box sideways. Always stack boxes in the direction they were filled.

Used to work for this company; biggest fucking joke I’ve ever seen in my life. Everyone who was a mover, and I mean everyone was stoned al the time. Constantly trying to find the quickest way to do things regardless of safety, stealing whatever valuables they could get away with, taking smoke breaks every ten minutes.....it was unbelievable. I worked for the company when they used to be off of Pawnee street in San Marcos, CA. They’re turn over rate was so high they had this video playing on an endless loop in the lobby for the daily new recruits. Possibly the worst company you could choose to hire as movers.

I have lived in japan for 35 years and i have never seen people more careful, especially with other people's property. In the west when we want to do something we get to doing it, in Japan when they want to do a task, first they sit and think. And maybe they will think for 2 hours until they come up with the best and safest solution. And if they believe it is too risky they will tell you that they can't do it. When i moved houses, the people who came to do the moving for me, brought countless boxes and bubble wrap and cotton and foam, and they moved an entire house in half a day from start to finish and didn't damage one thing, not the things to move not the wall, not the stairs. First they covered everything in blankets and the walls with thick mats. Then they all removed their shoes. No mover in japan enters your house with shoes on, they do it all in socks. Oh and they also clean your old house after they are done and bring all the boxes with them after putting everything in the place or the room you wish. So in half a day my old house was spotless and empty and my new house was liveable because they had rebuilt the beds, plugged all the things, from TV to computers, to washing machine, dish washer, internet connection etc. All we had to do was sit at the table order in food, and eat and then make the beds and go to sleep after taking a shower. We didn't even break a sweat. It was like we hadn't moved. They also do everything without saying a word as to not disturb the neighbours. Not one country in the world does that.
@henryhawkins11945 ай бұрын
I'm moving no ones house without shoes on. I don't know about Japan but in the states workman's Comp. will not cover you if you are injured without safety shoes. God forbid if drop a couch or some heavy item on your foot. It does happen sometimes regardless how safe and careful you might be.

Moving in Japan is mostly studio apartments, 2-4k lb moves. Not being sarcastic, I'd love to see how they handle a 25k pack and load out of an American McMansion. Probably wouldn't be too dissimilar from Budd, Joyce, JK, or any of the top Unigroup, SIRVA, or Atlas drivers. No shoes is a serious safety liability when you have gun safes, pianos, armoires, large wine coolers, etc coming down from upstairs. I love how Japanese movers work; lots of site protection, hump straps, and recyclable packing/padding materials. Those furniture socks are ace. I'd love to see a comparison of moving techniques and procedures worldwide, and how they could cross over to different countries' typical types of homes.

I been doing moving since 1997 ,you don’t need to strap couches in the third tear,if the load is going to be full,it’s the 3 b’s of loading base boxes and bullshit,we also load room by room,so when we get to the unloading part everything comes of the truck in that order, I used to hate working with guys who need certain pieces to put in there load ,then when we get to the unload each tier is going everywhere,we usually carry 3 boxes on a humpstrap when it all gets mixed up your left carrying one box at a time because the whole load is mixed up
