Make a budget list and moving list. Never rush a move, doesn't work out! Hire moving experts. For peace and comfort. Send out notices. Declutter your stuff. Get rid of things you don't use, get less stressed. Pack little by little every day. Never leave packing at the last minute. Pack a moving essentials tote. So it's accessible during the days of your move in. Give each room a different color label. Don't overpack a box. Too heavy and unlift-able. Use the right size boxes. Put heavy stuff in smaller boxes. Don't leave empty spots in boxes. Shake-proof it, pad it. Bundle all the breakables. Pad these too. Repurpose household items for packaging. Put tiny things inside pots for example. (Or pack your clothes with your plates.) Save space when packing clothes. Fold it or vacuum it. Label and take photos of furniture parts and accessories. Make your things easy to assemble and disassemble. Don't pack hazardous materials with other household materials. Can cause damage. Stock up on packing material for kitchen appliances. (Pad everything so they don't get ruined.) Use plastic wraps to avoid leaks. Bottles and the like. Pack jewelry in small boxes. They get lost in big boxes. Choose a different color for each room. No thin boxes. Also, tape your boxes. Then mark the color of the SIDE of the box. Tape a list at the side of the box. You can use garbage bags. You can vacuum it too. (Especially for compressing pillows and comforters!) Good video!!!

I always use my towels, sheets and blankets to help pack breakables. I also pack up each bedding set in its own box pillows and all that way when you get where you are going it is easier to open 1 box and make the bed.

Also pro tip! If you’re not moving far and you regularly hang your clothes, get a big garbage bag and put like 15 hangers together, and poke a hole in the top of the bag, pull the bag down and tie it under the clothes. I use this to live dresses and coats that are always hanging. After moving I hang them up and tear the bag off, all done
@annavargas3367 Жыл бұрын
How about if you don't make hole and use the already existing hole opening of the garage bag. Open the ties as wide as they open and come from under the bundle of hanging clothes and use the tie strings to secure hangers tightly together so clothes won't slide off hanger and fall down into the bag.

@@annavargas3367THANK YOU! I’m glad someone said it. Wasting perfectly good trash bags poking holes in them when they already have a giant hole right where you need it.

DECLUTTER is so important. Throw out junk and trash. Don't pay movers to haul it to new home. If you start early enough, make sure everything you pack is clean. If you can begin packing and sorting one month in advance, just an hour or so each day keeps you stress free. I picked up some garment bags real cheap at the thrift store. Coats and jackets in one; dresses in one; shirts & other in one. Fold filled garment bag in half and stack them up. If you are moving in the summer, for example you don't need to open the coats & jackets after the move, etc. Pricey jewelry needs to be with you in your car. Pets? Put everything pet related in a couple plastic totes with lids. They have these at the thrift store for $3! Make sure you fill purses with like items, then put them in boxes.
@annavargas3367 Жыл бұрын
I have a good packing tip. Sometimes I label the box with its locationl of where I kept it at my old house ie..." Under sink mom's bathroom", so at your new place you'll be needing a cream that you know you kept under the sink in your old bathroom, you'll know which box to go to. Yeah.
@tobiwalker7145 Жыл бұрын
I have credit cards with empty balances and hired professional movers who do an excellent job. I'm packing a bit each day and have an essential tote planned. I do tend to overpack weight -- I'm a little old lady and everybody is stronger than I am. My boxes are well-packed. My apartment is small enough that everything goes into the living room unless it's a bed. The chihuahua and the jewelry travel together. Thank you for assuring me I'm on the right track.

If you have open household containers of say, laundry detergent or cleansing products, use masking tape in an X form on the cap and or the top of the item. That keeps the lid from coming undone, and keeps the product in the bottle and not all over the box. I also use towels for my collectible knickknacks, which are very breakable. I’ve lost at least one item in every move and I have moved probably close to 10 times in the last 20 years. I always start packing the kitchen and the bathroom items that I have for just in case. And then they stay close to that room so I can access it if they need arises. I write in sharpies on the top and the side of each box for the room. They are going to go into. That way the packer of the truck knows to put all the kitchen stuff together the bathroom stuff together the bedroom stuff together. Biggest tip… Pack the bed last. If the bed is the first thing to come out of the truck at the new location. It goes right to the bedroom and gets put up immediately, that way if everything else stays in boxes for the rest of the day into tomorrow, you still have a place to sleep. I have a lot of crafting items with large boxes of yarn, which is not heavy but it’s cumbersome. The heavy part is the pattern books and there are 2 shelving units full of them. They go in smaller boxes because they’re easier to carry that way.
@allyg472 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video! I'm moving in two weeks and I still have a ton of packing to do. A lot of stuff I can't pack up until the day before we move because I'm still using it. I've also got a lot of stuff that is awkwardly sized and is difficult to pack - for example: small lamps, lampshades, wreathes, rugs, large vases, etc. I need to find bigger boxes for these things. Luckily, I've hired movers but I'm worried that I packed stuff wrong and they aren't going to be very happy with me. Anyways, thanks again for the tips. I'll definitely be putting some of them to good use.

I am moving in 2 weeks. BUT I don't have to move everything. Just the essentials. I have moved at least 50 or 60 times. And I use towels, blankets, pillows, anything that can pad things and make my boxes easy to carry. Because a lot of times I never have anyone to help.
