Thanks for this super useful video!! I didn’t quite understand the part about twisting the shutter to V and what this means? I notice you have to push the shutter down slightly and can adjust to V or R but what does this do? And is it necessary when changing film? As a separate question which you may not answer. I couldn’t quite figure out how to read the ISO that I’m adjusting to. I turn the dial on the left and can see the metre moving but couldn’t actually see the pin that provides the reading, if I say want to set it to my roll ISO of 400.

Yes, i should redo this video one day because at that time i thought that V is the normal setting for the shutter because that was the way you turned it from the T setting to be able to take photos but i found out with time that the proper shutter release position should be between the T and the V because T locks the shutter open (something like the Bulb mode but you dont have to hold the button) and the V is used for the self timer. As for the light meter if the thin pin does not react to light, it means that something is broken with the light meter. It should always react to light no matter the setting.

im just a little confused, after you did the 3 turns and dd the resistence with the knob on the left can you start taking photos then?

yes, after doing 3 empty shots and making sure the wind knob turns when your advancing the film, you can start taking photos :) it depends how efficiently you load the film. with a new camera i load the film without worrying to be efficient and take 3 well exposed shots of something and after i get the film developed i can see how many of the test shots came out good. if only the final one, then i know that i only need 2 test shots. sometimes all 3 get eaten and the fourth shot is the first on the roll. and sometimes 1 test shot is good enough. it depends on the camera and you can do this test to see how much your camera needs with your loading skills :)
