Had that happen to me...in my 1 ton...parking break doesn't help as it is on rear wheels, and when that ass end lifts up, off you go! I lucked out big time. Learned my lesson.

Thays smooth as butter man. Awesome video I never thought about using the back jacks like that.

I used to use wood blocks, but the jacks are probably a lot easier!

Excellent job . I have a Load Trail deck over 16' w /fold down sides.put a Yanmar 40 in it 9k. I put 2 jack stands on the rear and chocked the tires , worked well for me . I like the fixed jacks you have tho . One day ill change.

You should always put your trany in neutral AND set your emergency brake , so you're pushing against the Ebrake , instead of the parking Pawl in your trany ! Great Video btw !

You could have also raised the dump a bit to bring the rear of the trailer down. Great video!

How is unloading? I have a Takeuchi TB240 (9k lbs) and a 16’ Big Tex dump. Loading forward seems to be fine, unloading in reverse is what concerns me.

With my zero clearance machine I can spin around in the trailer without scraping and use the arm to steady the way down resting it on the ground.
@KennysTreeRemoval3 жыл бұрын
You don't fish tail with all the machine weight that much past center of the axles?
@srmcontracting3 жыл бұрын
It rides very smooth down the highway. The axles on my dump are pretty far back so the tracks of the machine are basically right over the axles. Thanks for watching!

Whats size are the c channel uses in those ramps? What's the load weight capacity per ramp?
@srmcontracting2 жыл бұрын
They are 3" channel and built heavy duty. Each ramp is close to 100 lbs. I think they are rated for 6k each. If you're looking to build a set and need more details just let me know. Thanks for watching

Hi . How do you like your dump trailer. Would you ever do a gooseneck or are you happy having a bumper pull for your company
@srmcontracting2 жыл бұрын
I think my next upgrade would be a single axle dump and a bigger tandem dually trailer. Thanks for watching
@sethhorwat6099 Жыл бұрын
Did you need a CDL with that setup? With the trailer GVWR Being greater than 10K
@jlbush8249 Жыл бұрын
In my state the CDL requirement is truck and trailer GVWR combined can't exceed 25,000 lbs.

Nice job Sean, I have the same excavator and I want to get a dump trailer 12 footer, what you think I can squeeze it in ? Thx , heep videos coming.
@srmcontracting Жыл бұрын
Thank you, I think you will be cutting it very close with a 12' trailer. I don't have much room left when mine is loaded. I would get a 14' if you can. Best of luck and thanks for watching!

2:10 Even with the E brake on, it would not matter since the rear wheels get lifted - all E-brakes that I have ever seen only work on the rear wheels.
@srmcontracting3 жыл бұрын
Your correct! I realized that after I said it. Its still a good idea to have it on to reduce the stress on the transmission.
@JimsEquipmentShed3 жыл бұрын
Unless your truck is a 4x4 and the truck is in 4 hi. (Or low) If it’s on then, the back brake locks the front end by mechanical connection.
@mortvid Жыл бұрын
@@JimsEquipmentShed The rear brakes have no such mechanical connection to the front wheels. It's the transfer case and the parking pawl in the transmission via the front drive shaft that locks the front wheels not the rear brakes.

I didn't think that loading and unloading was that big of a deal and you proofed just that. My concern is more with the very high center of gravitiy that this setup has. My trailer is much smaller and weighs only 650kg. The machine is only 3.5k pounds but the roof will nearly be 10 ft in the air and the weight probably 7 feet. Talk about driving over crooked territory and the whole rig tilting...
@mushmmm15092 жыл бұрын
So what about unloading? Is there anything that’s need to know?
@srmcontracting2 жыл бұрын
Basically the same process, just in reverse
@flat6fever680 Жыл бұрын
@@srmcontracting You don't spin around? You go down backwards?
@srmcontracting Жыл бұрын
@@flat6fever680 I can't spin because the walls are too high. I just extend the stick out in front of me and back down the ramps.

All you have to do is lift the bed a little and decrease the angle. I have a remote fob in my hand when I load I can change whatever angle I want sitting on the machine and then lower it after loading
@troyb.41012 ай бұрын
All the weight is where , at the end of the trailer. Should have done it with boom aft. The counter weight should have been forward. can you rotate it 180 degrees and move it more forward. More weight on the tongue and more weight centered on the axles. Maybe it does not matter with a 4,000 pound machine
@srmcontracting2 ай бұрын
This machine weights 8000 lbs, if I put the counter weight in the front there would be way too much tongue weight. This way it's balanced correctly, the axles on the dump trailer are positioned pretty far back.
@genecoppedge59725 ай бұрын
Actually it’s better to load with the blade behind you to prevent you from doing a reverse somersault then you don’t have to put your stick way in front of you.
@srmcontracting5 ай бұрын
Not on my trailer, there would be too much tongue weight with the machine that far forward.
@robertlukenbill56813 жыл бұрын
Just load it in reverse

I can't in my trailer there would be way too much tongue weight. Thanks for watching!

@sfera21573 жыл бұрын
You need shorter ramps.
@itzOLE32 жыл бұрын
shorter would make it steeper and more challenging to load/unload
@mortvid Жыл бұрын
The main thing about this video that made me cringe is that you didn't put on your seat belt. That OROPS is only effective if you remain in your seat. Too many things can go wrong loading to take that chance. I think you should take down this video and re shoot it using proper safety meaures.
