This video saved the day! I had been fighting with trying to load the string in my trimmer for DAYS! Turns out when when watching other videos and reading instructions I was doing it wrong. I didn't have the lines perfectly lined up although it looked like it. I was close to throwing it against the wall, lol. Then I stumbled across your video and all was revealed. Thank you!!!

Thank you so much for staying up late and showing us that technique. I've had a few EGO products and loved all of them, but was stymied by why I couldn't re-thread a trimmer string that had cut off too soon. The key was in the twist. You saved an EGO trimmer from being tossed into the street. You have a new follower and fan.

I just bought a combo set thanks to your review 👍. Dont have a large yard and I got tired of gas/ gas oil mix. Actually my weed trimmer just took a crap last week. I just used my new Ego trimmer and was able to do my yard and parts of my neighbors then used the blower to clean up all in one charge on the 2.5 ah battery it came with. O and that blower is plenty enough 530CFM it moved leaves, dirt and loose rocks. Love it!. Out of the box I took off the head to re string it and dam I'm blown away how ez it is, glad I didn't spent the extra cash to buy the carbon fiber shaft with the power head instead used that cash to purchase yesterday that someone was selling a LM 2102 SP LAWNMOWER for $300, with the 7.5 ah with rapid charger, but it only came with the bag ,no mulch attachment or sideshooter. Serial # show Oct. 2020 so thats pretty new right? He said got it 5 months ago,, switching back to gas due to he does landscape for a business not much time to recharge, anyway So for sure now with that extra battery I'll be able to do the whole yard. Anyway thanks for the awesome videos and reviews, I'm now ready to build on my Ego platform for yard work tools.👍👍

I bought one and today it was sunny and nice almost in of January. I took it out of the box and put a couple of things on it as needed. Tried it out and the string WOULD NOT advance. I had done a lot of work with tge cultivator thing in the flower bed and used a pick to dig out these old bush roots I needed out. I was exhausted for January and I am an old woman and I banged the bottom trying to get it to advance and gave up. I thought, go look for a video and figure it out and try tomorrow. THANK YOU....I will give this a shot tomorrow. Hopefully since it's new it is just tangled or something.

Nice job! The close up video really helps! Many thanks1 It's interesting to see how easy it is for you to remove the removable side of the head. I've had to use a fat screwdriver to push the tabs in and simultaneously pry gently under the tab to release the head. It seems to be sometimes, too, to reattach the head. It appears to me that the hexagonal part in the fixed side of the head has to line up with the odd shape of the removable part of the head but it's hard to do this visually. I have to slightly turn the head while I'm pushing on it. It often takes quite a few tries, as it did for you.

The outer hole that's "tall" on his unit (and evidently yours) is short on mine, so that makes it easier to know where to stick the string. BUT I don't have the "load" lines! (The things he calls "notches" at 3:11.) They're not there. I can still see all the other bumps and stuff, including the word "EGO," so they obviously didn't wear off; this head apparently just never _had_ those two lines. That seems like a _ridiculous_ oversight or defect. There's nothing to indicate when I have the "cap"(?) in the right position to load the string. Very frustrating. Also, oddly, the arrows showing the direction to turn are _clockwise,_ on mine, not counter-clockwise, like his.

Thanks for this very helpful video. I have a love/hate relationship with my EGO trimmer. I love the power and that it is a cordless electric. But the spool continues to frustrate, especially when the line snaps and leaves nothing to "bump" and I have to take all the line off and start over. My battery failed within a year, so they sent a new one under warranty. This product can be wonderful to use, it has been a lot of hassle.

I agree -- I also have a love/hate relationship with my EGO trimmer! I love it for the same reasons, and I hate that the head has no lines with which to line up the side holes to load new string! No marks at all for that! The head also turns _clockwise_ and has arrows showing same, contrary to what the manual (and this video) show. A little consistency -- and instructions that match the unit -- would be nice! 😠

@4:15 "If you see the hole, then you just about got it made". Words to live by. Seriously though, I didn't realize that there were notches that you had to line up with the holes. I guess I just did the "hit and miss" method,which of course was more miss than hit. Thanks for the video.

No problem. The newer Rapid Reload Heads you don't have to line up the lines, and the whole makes more sense. You could probably still load the new one after dropping a six pack. Thanks for watching. Here is our webpage with everything EGO www.aroundthehome.org/ego-power-plus.html

@@AroundTheHome1 Believe me, I have everything Ego. Top of the line mower, blower, and the powerhead with weedeater, edger, pole saw and hedge trimmers. Love them all. By the way, I looked at the head on my trimmer and there are no lines. No way at all to know if you’re lined up properly other than to look to see if the hole is lined up. I wonder why they wouldn’t include the lines in every head?
@AroundTheHome1

If yours doesn't have the lines then it doesn't need them. This is the older model of the Rapid Reload head. And thanks for bringing this up. Now that I have the newer style installed on my trimmer, I need another video for that one.

Thanks so much for this video - I borrowed my son's weed wacker and of course it ran out of string. I was able to figure it out from your video. Only problem I had was getting the spool back in - my hands aren't as strong as they use to be so I had to use a hammer gently on each side to get the tabs to go into the slots

If you can't get the line to thread through the hole then 1) Detach the two clips (pushing in) thread the holes. 2) Even up the ends of the line. 3) Thread the line through the holes in the whacker. 4) Line up the marker lines on the feeder hub and snap the tray back in (tabs click closed). 5) Push and wind.

This video finally got around to giving me the information I needed, but it could have been 2 minutes long instead of 9. Dragged out with lots of worthless chatter because that's what people do for monetization and it's annoying.
@AroundTheHome1
@AroundTheHome1 2 жыл бұрын
Not nearly as annoying as this comment. Comments like this come from a place of privilege and entitlement. You expect people to take the time out of their day and give you the information that you want. It took time to learn these tips and tricks, then time to shoot, edit, and produce this video. I have worked on streamlining my videos, but I will not stop giving the full amount of information to my viewers that need it. And I will not apologize for spending a minute to relate to the problems that some people are having. I make it a point to add chapters to all my videos over 3 minutes long. That way for those that want all the info they can watch the whole video. For those that are just looking for that "trick" they can't figure out, they can jump ahead. I guarantee that you immediately skipped the ad so no monetization took place. You then got the info that you needed, but took the time that you could have simply watched the ad which supports us creators and instead spent it writing a complaint that the video was too long for you. If the free KZbin info is not to your liking, next time just figure it out yourself.
