I had my E-Bike secured with a Hiplock, the stringest available. Plus an additional strong U-lock. Attached to the official bike rail "somewhere busy" as recommended in the video (in front of the V&A musuem in Kensington). I only spent an hour in there, and the bike was gone! NO LOCK IS SAFE!!!!

@@HiplokBikeLocks hello, that's very kind of you and great customer service. I loved the Hiplock, I thought it's a really well engineered lock. I have now different locks and am using three locks if I leave the bike for longer than 1 hour on its own, but I try to avoid this situation anyway. So no need for an other lock, thank you again.

Sorry to hear about your Ebike theft, today I ordered my first Ebike and awaiting delivery, hence me watching countless "bike lock" videos at 4.45am lol. My sad conclusion is that you're right, NO LOCK IS SAFE, just watch any of the many LPL videos to see him pick the "Best" locks on the market in less than 1 minute, or break them in some way (same end result) tbh I'm at a loss as to how to protect my bike on the rare occasion I'll leave it unattended. Anyway I hope you've had better results with your 3 lock system and still have your replacement bike ;@)

@@mikealman9259 thank you for your kind words. I hope you'll enjoy your e-bike and make sure it will stay in your possession. I heard of a Abus lock with 120 DB alarm, it's quite new, it might be efficient (so maybe we only need two locks ;-)

@@gerhardreinecke3228 Danke for the tip Gerhard, 120db sounds loud :-o The problem is everyone in the immediate vicinity of an active bike theft seems to be rendered deaf, dumb, and blind lol, so I'm thinking of employing roof-top snipers to watch over it when I go into the city, lol.

I think I will go for a layered approach to security. If a thief is that determined to take the e-bike they will find a way to break the locks or take the bike elsewhere to break them. Look to UV marking the bike and registering it, frame number, put a hidden tracker on it and also insure it. I do think this is the one area that most people who are looking to buy an e-bike are concerned about. That and riding on roads.

Thank me later, I have a north rock fat bike it’s a great bike. I live in the hood and my last bike I got was stolen I used a thick wired lock that they cut. So I invited in a haven chain lock when I lock it at home and a Ulock. But I also got a onvian smart bike tail light Anti-theft alarm. This thing works great and it’s only 35 bucks on amazon. Super sensitive when the bike is moved or a slight bump will set it off and it’s super loud. It just adds another layer of security. It’s remotely activated and covenant.

it's also good to remove the controller and battery if it's an external battery . doing this is more of a deterrent because a thief might pass on your bike if they see they will have to invest a considerable amount of money in order to resell the bike . The best deterrent is to not leave it unattended or out of sight .

At this time I use 2 separate locks, a heavy U-lock and medium chain. I replaced my quick release skewers with skewers that lock. I'm choosy where I park. If I feel that the location is tempting to thieves, even while locked, I just won't leave it out of my sight. When at home I bring the bike inside. Keeping the bike inside also protects my bike and locks from the elements. So far I have been lucky. Looking forward to the release of the D1000. With weight limitations in mind, you can't be too careful.

Wow these look great. I already own a kryptonite chain lock which clocks in at 10 poundss, but I might pick up a second chain lock for redundancy. These look even better than other lock brands, and on top of that the weight is really reasonable!

I'm sure they are high quality locks. But I'm not that comfortable wearing D-locks or chain-locks on my body. Not because of the weight - but because of the significantly increased risc of broken bones when landing on them with the lock between you and the tarmac. These locks always gonna "win" in those scenarios.

On an e-bike, 6 or 8 kg of chains and D Locks wrapped around your seat post is a small price to pay for security. I have 8 kg wrapped around my pretty basic general workhorse hybrid and I get around ok. No e, just me.

@UtubeAdviser2 жыл бұрын
Thieves won’t cut the lock they will cut the frame of the bicycle stand on the street. That’s much easier to cut. The best way to not get your bike stolen is to get a custom remote control electrical current to the bike when you get off the bike. Once you hit the remote and activate it, if anyone touches the bike they will get electrocuted

Yes, you could spend thousands of dollars on an eBike kzbin.infoUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ and get something much higher quality. However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!
