Amazing episode as always Coyote! LOVE to see an episode that features horses and equestrianism, just wish the trainer would use less heavy shank bits, the one at 5:50 which looks like some sort of snaffle looks far more ideal for a beginner/novice rider with hands that aren't are quiet or sure. What a shame. I don't think all of those horses are Thoroughbreds either, look nothing like my own Thoroughbred, especially that coat and build, it looks more like a Quarterhorse or Paint to me. Thoroughbreds are generally quite a bit taller, have slightly leaner builds, QuarterHorses are far more commonly used for trail rides like this. If you see horses with "long" bits called shanks, avoid using too much pressure on them if you can, they're not designed to be pulled on the reins like other bits are, I personally prefer to use leg aids. But nobody can blame you for that. I'm surprised she had you canter on your first lesson too as a novice without a helmet, a miracle you didn't get killed! Haha Just glad you had fun, you have far more respect for these amazing and beautiful animals than many other people who just throw themselves on top of a horse, kicking and spurring without any care for the comfort of them. Thank you for that

Purplepoppyanimator these are trail horses. They would throw someone off at a canter, they are trained. The bit also was for better control. As these guys have not rode much, it’s not a surprise to use a heavier bit. Coyote wouldn’t go to a abusive ranch.

I am aware that the BLM brands them, but as far as I'm aware, they only geld the stallions because neutering a mare costs far too much money. We had a mustang mare, they are great trail horses.

Also equestrians in the comments hating on jumpers since it's not good for horses legs, apparently. Haven't seen any equestrians criticizing the use of bits and chain chinstraps yet though. Every real equestrian knows that a bit wont stop a horse and except for maybe high level dressage, (I cant speak on that), anything you can do in a bit, you can do without a bit or mechanical hackamore.

You don’t understand how long I’ve been waiting for a horse riding episode. Horses are the world to me and I’ve been riding since I was 7 but always loves them as a baby.When I saw this video I was like “ OMG YESSS”, I was so happy. I’m happy to see that these people actually take care of the horses, unlike some other places. But I’m pretty sure those horses are quarter horses, ideal for western riding, and not Thourghbred, or it can possible be a mix of the two. thank you Coyote for finally doing a horse episode, and maybe you can do another where you take at look at jumping horseback, like I do. Show jumping, cross country, or hunter jumping would be awesome. Thank you again ❤️🦄😊🐎

As an equestrian, this was so weird...lol. I ride English, so idk about western. We don’t gallop the first day we started riding. Lol 😂 Those are American paint horses, and American quarter horses (unless they are, I’m not there so I don’t know) . I love what you guys do, keep it up!! 👍🏻😃🐴

I ride horses for one week once a year but it definitely isn’t the same as being able to do what you want with a horse or be able to take care of one or be able to have access to one your entire life. All these people who watch this must know nothing about horses, because the way you rode this horse wasn’t very professional. If you’re going to canter right off the bat, make sure to not be slamming down on their back. Sit deeply into the saddle, and if you feel unsecured, stop the horse. I’ve been riding horses since I was four so I know quite a bit. Also most importantly, don’t yank on their mouth too much, because they do have a bit in their mouth, so they can feel most of the moves you make with your hands. Beautiful horses

My horse was sleeping when I went to the stables, so I decided to ride a three year old filly named Azteca on a trail ride through a forest. My dad was riding his horse. When we were like halfway through the forest, Azteca bolted. She ran for about s mile. I was out of the saddle and hanging onto the side of Azteca for my life. I fell off but my boot was stuck in the stirrup. I was being dragged, my leg feeling like it was being torn from it’s socket. All my dad could do was watch in horror. I finally got my boot out of the stirrup. She kept running for about another mile. Blood streamed down my face, as a fell face-first on a rock when I got my foot free. My leg was bend in an awkward way. I was in so much pain I almost fainted. Azteca fell in a stream and was forced to go back to my location. My dad rounded her up. He put me on his horse, as he was older and calmer. I was in the hospital for a few weeks but I am okay. I still love horses, even though I am always aware when I ride. Love you coyote! I hope you read this.

Charlotte Peytanz Your horse doesn’t need papers to be considered a pinto. Pinto is just a pattern classification just like bay, chestnut, palomino ect. are considered colors and you don’t need to have your horse papered for them to be considered that color or pattern.
