One way I elevate or customize thrift or clearance rack tops, sweaters, jackets, or blazers is to replace the plain/cheap buttons with nicer, shiny, glassy, or more colorful buttons. Customizing the buttons takes the item to a whole new level & truly makes the item one-of-a-kind.

I look for buttons in the craft department of thrift stores. I have also been known to buy a blouse just to reuse the buttons on something else, or an ugly dress for the rhinestone findings. There was such good quality from long ago. I have even put these do-dads on shoes or tote bags. I once sewed pieces from a (pearl) necklace to the bra straps for a neckline that was gonna show bra straps. I felt like a genius doing that, LOL. No wonder it takes me hours when I thrift. I have to go alone, because I don't like to hold up my friends or be rushing.

I love thrifting too. People always ask me where I got my stuff from, little do they know that almost everything I wear shoes and all I got it under 10 euros. You really find nice things when you take enough time to look and have good eyes. I live in France and I always go in thrift stores near posh areas where the rich donate.

Same here. I have found a genuine brown leather trenchcoat and a 100% wool coat in fantastic condition at a 5 items for $1 thrift bin 😄😄. The only problem was the searching cos them bins were big and deep. All my leather jackets,pants,skirts and coats are from the thrift store and are never more than $10 a piece.

OMG You hit the nail on the head with the new clothing in the stores. I was was telling my husband that everything is so Holly Hobbie style pioneer woman. He bought me a cashmere sweater and jewelry but he usually buys me cute dresses for Christmas but he said they all looked like potato sacks. He said I’ll go get a potato sack and cut out holes for arms and your head before I’ll pay 💰 for that crap. And the girls on FB trying to sell these sweatshirts with poor fitting pants that are tie dyed and are expensive! So thank you. I’m not crazy. Also you know how to thrift like a boss I wear stuff off of Poshmark all of the time. Also I love thrifted clothing. My favorite shirt is a St. John that I bought at a second hand store for less than $10 as it was on sale. I buy men’s blazers too. You rock sister!

Thrift Queen! Tip 1 have a poker face while thrifting 2. hair spray to prevent foot slippage while wearing open toe shoes 3. shop for blazers on men rack 4. Add broaches on back of clothing to cinch it in. 5 wear trench coats like dress 6 buy a suit break it up . I always enjoy the shock factor of telling people that my whole outfit has been thrifted and including shoes may cost less than $15. That gold collar with screw closure could be worn to the front and add a jewel piece to it, what do you think? I like every last item you thrifted but I will give the favorite to the floral pants suit (that hard to find and it fit well). Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.
