HOW TO LOVE JESUS MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE--IS OUR GOAL IN LIFE

Start using these Three Powerful Habits--
The heart of the message Paul taught in Ephesus, that prompted Acts 18, is captured in the words of Ephesians 4:22-24.
That same message of Christ’s Lordship must fill our lives, leading to the removal of any part of our lives that displeases God. There are three clear choices we must make!
Look again with me at Ephesians 4:22-24:
that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Start the Habit of
Grace-prompted Shedding
Ephesians 4:22
First, Paul is asking believers to start a habit of grace-prompted shedding. This is “putting off” old habits like old clothes are so comfortable and fit us so well, that we often forget that we even have them on again-until the Spirit of God convicts us. Paul is reminding us that those who will live a life holy to the Lord must repeatedly put off the old ways.
If we struggle with anger, anger must be shed daily; and if we struggle with pride, pride must daily be shed. This is also the choice we must make for lust, greed, fear and any other byproducts of our flesh. Often believers fail to grow in their spiritual lives because they don’t understand the life-long need to shed or “put off” our old sins on a daily basis.
Start the Habit of
Grace-prompted Thinking
Ephesians 4:23
Second, in v. 23 Paul is asking them to start a habit of grace-prompted thinking. Choices to put off old ways flow from our renewed minds. Just as Romans 12:2 says we are “transformed by the renewing of our minds”. When we think godly, we behave godly; or when we believe right, we behave right.
God’s plan for our minds always starts with us personally reading and studying His Word. Then from that flows our personal request to God’s Spirit, asking Him to renew our minds. As we prayerfully read we have in our minds God’s thoughts. As we submit to God’s desires through His Word-He infuses His mind into ours. Paul said that we can have the mind of Christ by this constant renewal process. A grace-energized mind comes as believers regularly, hopefully daily get God's Word into their hearts and minds.
A simple goal would be to listen to God’s voice all the way through His Word once each year. This is imperative for us, reading the Bible expectantly and asking God to speak to us by His Spirit each day in His Word.
Start the Habit of
Grace-prompted Wearing
Ephesians 4:24
Lastly, in v. 24 Paul is asking them to start a habit of grace-prompted wearing. This is the putting on: “… and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness” (v. 24).
God makes it clear that it is not enough to merely put off old fleshly habits, they must be replaced with the newness of Christ in wearing His love, wearing His peace, etc. (Galatians 5:22). If I lose my temper with my wife or children, and repent and put it off-that is not enough unless I also put on Christ's love and patience also!
God is at work in us His children, and energized by His grace we must work at living out this new life (Phil. 2:12-13). Our daily task is getting dressed in our divine clothes-spiritually speaking clothes do make the man, and the woman.

Jesus is the 'word' and all things are created amd made by the 'word' of God. The 'word' is the law and is a blessing AND a curse, amd cannot be 'broken' - John 8: 40 Jesus is with 'everyone' - those who love each other show evidence of this fact as they are the 'body' that does the 'works'. Faith without works has no 'body'. Without a body there can be no works. Neither he nor his parents sinned, he exists so that the works of God can be displayed. Faith, causes the works, for without faith it is impossible to please God. Thus, faith - without works - is 'dead'.

By obeying God's law, the ten commandments, and trusting God's plan for your life even when things are difficult and may not make sense to us. God uses trials to shape us into who he wants us to be, which is more like Christ, and those trials help us rely on him more and we develop a relationship with him that way.​ Read more of his word for he is the word. I would never have a child because they might hate existing like I do. But christians shouldn't have kids if they think their child might end up going to hell. Great teaching. Grace prompted shedding of old habits, and Grace prompted thinking through renewing your mind. I used to not have time for God and fell into carnal, social media addiction, procrastinating life. I was so unhappy and any interaction with God was so dry, barren, and governed by condemnation. Over a period of 2 years of being lukewarm, I just kept doing the basics, repenting and pushing forward with reading the word, prayer, fasting, ministry,etc. Some days I felt nothing and I wasn't consistent but I kept going. I'm not sure when the shift happened but I began to burn for God like I did when I was a baby Christian. I felt that love that I once has but it was a more mature love. Saints don't give up. God wants to spend time with us than we want to spend time with Him just keep asking for His help!

The test of a genuine Christian is given in the word of God. Says He: “If you love Me, keep My commandments” John 14:15. That is; “If you love Me, let not your love be as that of the feelings of attachment between people. Genuine love lies in obedience to My commandments.” The love that yields willing and unreserved obedience is not fickle, it is a strong, fixed principle, revealed both in word and action. The true beauty of the soul is found in obedience to the will of God. Adam and Eve’s disobedience in what we perceive to be a very small matter, forfeited Eden to them, and to mankind, bringing sin upon the human race. God’s Commandments are for the regulation of the human heart. If we observe them, our lives will be lives of obedience because of our love for Jesus. These are the Conditions for Abiding in His Love. He says: “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love… Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.” John 15:10, 13-14). From the very lips of our Lord are His conditions for abiding in His Love: “keep my commandments.” And if we do so, it is plain testimony that we love Him. “Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city” Revelation 22:14 These are the conditions upon which every soul will be elected to eternal life.

It’s easy to love Jesus more than anything or anyone. What’s difficult is loving our fellow man. But that’s what we are called to do. I meet so many “believers”who claim they love God and they’re right up there on his right hand side but they hate their brother and don’t realize you cannot love God if you hate your brother. I mean you might make it to heaven but you’re certainly not going to please God by hating your brother. There are so many “Christians“ who hate their brother that I don’t even look for “believers” as friends anymore. I just look for people who are kind to one another and have love in their hearts.

John says if you hate your brother you are a murderer (1 John 3:15) and so does Jesus (Matthew 5:22) and no murderer can go to heaven (Revelation 22:15), unless they repent and love their fellow human beings whom their Lord died for as well (that's ALL of us).
