math as a foreign language!! my algebra 2 teacher spoke 2 other languages and taught numbers the same way! it blew my mind seeing numbers EVERYWHERE after that. the pattern recognition and the snowball effect of properties of math has altered my brain chemistry permanently. it taught the why the same time as the how. i failed math every year until then! so incredibly life changing

As a high school maths teacher, so much of it isn't applicable maybe to you but I really have to remind students they aren't the main character of the universe and just because they don't want to do something with the subject doesn't mean the other 26 million people in Australia won't. It's also really hard to explain to a 12 year old that a lot of it is about transferable skills and logic building. In the same vein students need to learn how to read books about situations and people they don't care about because another thing kids/teens need to learn critical thinking skills and learning to understand people/situations they don't necessarily relate to. (Also if streaming isn't owning, piracy isn't theft as they say).

I wouldn’t sit on a plane toilet if my life depended on it. Those things are absolutely gross. No thanks, I’ll wait till I get to my hotel room. As for acne, I spent a good amount of my teens visiting the dermatologist because I had bad acne as a youth. I still have the scars on my upper chest. But when I was going through my teenage years, there was no Proactive. I was prescribed a number of medications except for Accutane (I think that’s the one that could affect one’s sterility). My dermatologist would not prescribe it unless every other med had failed. Acne was just another downside I inherited from my mother. Both of us battled acne well into our 40s. Andrew, I am glad you didn’t have to deal with it as long!
