this will work only in the inductive load, but in a very small amount. almost nothing to save. the principle is, this capacitor is for power factor correction and since inductive load has a lagging power factor or below 100%, so the capacitor will make the power factor close to 100%.

If your using that with a residential line, you will not save power; because you are charged for you kwh. If you are using a lot of inductive load(ALOTTTT) then it can help you by increasing power factor. IN SHORT: this will not reduce the current bill at your house, use less current for lower bills ;)

@@EarthBondhon Thank you for pointing out about voltage changes. Using capacitors will help you in case of voltage fluctuations and help maintain a constant voltage (for a short time). It would hence in this scenario help reduce losses by keeping the voltage high and current low(W=VI). With low voltage your devices take more current and produces more losses as heat(loss=I2R). INPUT POWER=OUTPUT POWER+LOSSES So technically since you pay for input power, you can save some money, but keep in mind almost all you devices do come with a power handling unit that has this capacitor already connected. To summarize things up: Use less current for less bills ;)

But we all are being screwed over by the power company, by the way they charge us! Also consider this if and induction motor was used to run the house and it was supplied power from transformer and we were billed just for the power to run the motor, we could all use less power and save money ( I am sure there will be other components in the induction motor system, but I am just saying induction motor to reference the system! The power company doesn't want to save us money they are a business and want to sale us power! They don't premote having an induction motor system at our homes and lowering our power bills ,actually the induction motor system could allow us to return power back to them and they could lower our bills! But they do not want that! You hear them talk of conserving power, but not about lowering our bills!And the government knows and is not doing anything about it! Instead they allow the power company to use old outdated parts and system which at any minute could fail or be overloaded and fail! If we the people don't stand together and demand better we will be in the dark soon!

I am experiencing over 27 brown outs daily where power drops and comes back ,and with 9 refrigerators and numerous other things ... There is nothing that can stop this small and major issues unless I give enough AC caps on the line to compensate for the tiny hits. Because all those refrigerators and freezers compressor go hog wild every time the brownout happens meaning there was a no power spike for 1 seconds or less ,then all the compressors get hit by this. They have capacitor on water pump right? I hope that extra amp in the cap can help me ;-)

We are paying for the resistive power, not the reactive power. Even if you have large enough capacitor to make the power factor to unity, your kwh meter will read the same. Factories are paying their kvah so they need that. But homes pay kwh and watts measure resistive power only. Correct me if i am wrong. Thanks

this is ok. if there is no capacitor to correct the power factor to atleast close to unity, the electric bill for that 5.5kw will be more. say you have lagging power factor of 0.8 without capacitor, it will make your consumption out of that 5.5kw to 6.875kvar but then if you add capacitor to atleast correct the power factor close to unity, say 0.95, your consumption will only be 5.789kvar. therefore, the capacitor reduces your power consumption.

In Finland you are not allowed to do any high voltage wirings unless you are licenced professional. High voltage may kill you or somebody else influesed your "wiring works" if you do not know what you are doing.

Howdy. The capacitors will reduce the reactive power. Yes. But it has no meaning. For households. The kWh meter only registers active energy, Watts. It does not register reactive power, VAr:s. For industrial plants the power company will also read the reactive energy, kVAhr, and charge for reactive energy. Why is that so ? While reactive energy does no real work it nevertheless occupies transmission line capacity. There is less transfer capacity available for the transfer of active energy, kWh. Regards.

I like the video, but it's very short and not detailed enough for a novice. You're the first person to detail how to run through the breakers. I'm also USA so I need 60hz caps. I'm looking into the graphene caps to support that research. It really would be cool if you did a series or full video explaining different setups for different home circuits, suited best for the appliances used in these circuits. I'm sure the HVAC, refrigerator and washer would benefit from different setups

Capacitors are applied to correct Power Factor (pf). Electricity is charged with kWh and not kVA. Therefore, there will be no change in the utility bill

No this way it will consume more. Guys don't listen to him, am an Electrical engineer and working in the construction field for a quiet a long time. This way is to rectify the power factor PF if you have an inductive load, and yes this isn't done at home at all, we have capacitor bands and a really big panels with diagram a d calculations for each factory and load. Assume your home is fed by a single phase "as he mentioned, yet he used three phase tp for connection" and your home is at 90pf or less "with lights and inductive loads and you put these capacitors IT WILL INCREASE THE PF thus will increase the rate as a real power consumption! Don't listen to him, this is the biggest BS things I've ever heard in my career
