Never update the firmware on your obdlink lx. I bricked mine permanently as far as I can tell, and so have several other people. Very frustrating. Thanks for the helpful video

​​@@dubguy1121I know this is an old question but there are cables you can get from like Amazon that go from your OBD2 port to a usb port... -EDIT- that way it's directly connected in case you lose signal, also make sure your power supply is "clean" if you lose power for a second you will ruin your ECU some people will buy a spare ECU and use that to "learn" on in case they mess up their original ECU, I'm not a programmer but I been watching lots of videos and reading a lot...

@beeterolds Great video... I see you're using a Windows computer... did you have issues connecting via Bluetooth? Seems the only way I can connect is to first connect to OBDwiz (per OBD Link) then open TunerPro etc and tell it to connect on a differen COM PORT. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have two questions. Maybe you can answer them for me? 1) Can I use a corded connection between the laptop and the OBD2 port? I have a OBDLink EX USB cable that I'd like to use if possible. 2) I would like to remove vats (and play with a few other settings) on a 1998 C5 Corvette. Do I need to build a bench harness for programming, or can I simply plug in to the OBD2 port in the vehicle to flash the new bin file? Thanks in advance.

Not sure if you got it but here's a reference to anyone else that is trying to figure it out Yes you can leave the ECU in but you have to disconnect the green plug. If you leave the plug in the ECU will not let you get past a certain point with PCM hammer

You save the file after pcm hammer completes downloading your factory tune. Once that is done. You open the saved file in tuner pro. Easy peezy

This only supports P01, P10, P12, P59 (with possibly P04, P08, P11, E54 one day in the future). 2011 is a newer PCM that runs CAN instead of VPW. Its not compatible with PCMHammer.

In that case pay for a tune. It's cheap enough. The process is designed for people already comfortable with using computers but you can buy VATS deleted PCMs online.
