John G I did have a fairly tight budget. You can use a truck intake and accessories to save money. The oil pan will have to be a 4th gen which is pretty expensive. where did you get the template for the engine mounts?
@WestcoastWrenchin5 жыл бұрын
It was supposed to be included but wasn't. I ended up holding the motor mount up to the existing holes and realizing they line up and I just needed to add one

Do you have good ground clearance with the 4th gen headers?
@WestcoastWrenchin6 жыл бұрын
Carlton Wilkinson very good actually! They sit nearly flush with the subframe and never scrape. The slapper bars on the other hand scrape like mad!

Westcoast Wrenchin' I'm doing an IRS conversion anyway.

did you modify the frame at all for extra support?
@WestcoastWrenchin6 жыл бұрын
No modification necessary!
@PyroBlock6 жыл бұрын
@@WestcoastWrenchin interesting, a lot of people on nastyz28 told me I needed to add support for an ls swap
@WestcoastWrenchin6 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I never did as the engine is actually lighter than the stocker due to aluminum heads. My car does have weld in sub frame connectors for the extra power however, is that what you were asking?
@PyroBlock6 жыл бұрын
@@WestcoastWrenchin yes, I was more so refering to the sub frame connectors. Which ones did you use? Right now I'm looking at Hotchkis
@WestcoastWrenchin6 жыл бұрын
@@PyroBlock I got them made from a local fabricator in vancouver! That's your best bet. Welding in sub frame connectors is actually pretty serious and you want to make sure the car is weighted correctly because once they're in, they're in! He only charged me $350 so at that price it didn't even make sense for me to do it.

So, did you use the stock gauge cluster and all of that? I'm about to do a very similar build on a 77' I'm getting, using the 5.3 out of my truck. And how is the T10 holding up with that LS? I've been considering a T10 or a T5, but I'm not sure which I want more. Looking for opinions and love the video. I really like the way you did the accessories too. Keep up the good work 👌

Project DMS Productions thanks so much! Im using my stock gauges. The tach works off the ecu, temp gauge off a sender in my rad, fuel off my standard sender. I added an oil gauge in place of the clock and wideband. The t10 holds up great but remembers its a custom build trans out of a race car so not a regular t10 in any way

The stock speedo wont work. For now I'm using a app on my phone
