Even LED flashlights needs general maintenance. Here's how you keep the threads clean, and the light running as it is intended to.
Nyogel is what I'm using in this video, and it's what most flashlight experts recommend. Amazon sells it (among other flashlight retailers). Here's their link --- amzn.to/2pQlFgO

More importantly, take the O-rings off, clean underneath and re-lubricate them!

You can use the lube on the contacts too, you don't need deoxit, the grease doesn't inhibit the contact at all. It also helps the metal parts to remain water-free at all times.

It increases the resistance and it lowers the performance significantly.

I have lots of eagletac. and powertac. flashlights. and I have been using super lube's multi-purpose synthetic lubricant with syncolon (ptfe) and I have to say this is the best product on the market:):)

You don't use silicone to clean it, silicone acts as a lubricant.

Old vid but you seem to know. I got some surefire scouts that flicker. Supppsedly the spring in the tail cap has connection issues. What grease/lube would be good for connectivity between the battery and the tail spring.
@Lightsngear
@Lightsngear 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know of any specific application that would lend itself to a connection issue. The Nyogel product that I use to lubricate would probably be fine.

I have watched this video three times. Just keep thinking I am missing something. No.. Non-conductive grease to clean, lub metal electrical connection. NO NO NO NO .. Use good old 99 percent alcohol to clean, and then DeOxit Red to Lub. You could use the DeOxit grease which has copper particles but I would not, you want clean metal on metal connections for a flashight connection. Could use the non-conductive grease with the o-rings, maybe that is the confusion.

I have so many paintball lubes from my years of playing that seems to work okay. Most of my flashlights are Nitecore so I went ahead and just bought a container of Nitecore SG7 grease... figured if thats what they use in the factory, I might as well use that my self. The Lube you are using is supposedly the best though.

Nyogel that you show in this video is a petroleum based grease hickened with silica. It's not polysilanes/siloxanes/silicone. look at manufacturer's data sheet. It's supposed to be good stuff, but it's not silicone.

The point of the silicone grease is to lubricate the O-rings, not the threads.
@Lightsngear
@Lightsngear 8 жыл бұрын
True, thanks for mentioning that.
@TheFrozenMind

But you can also lubricate the threads as well, to avoid metal to metal contact.
@JackNWhite92
@JackNWhite92 8 жыл бұрын
TheFrozenMind yes, but you can also use anything else that doesn't react with the O-rings, the purpose of using silicone grease is to lubricate and prevent wear on the O-rings.

Dielectric grease is silicone grease.
@callofduty60
@callofduty60 4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't - If I'm not mistaken, dielectric grease is non-conductive. You will be better served with a grease that is conductive, due to the nature of a flashlight especially around the tail cap area as you do not want to impede the electrical current in any way!
@EduardoBach01
@EduardoBach01 3 жыл бұрын
You can safely use any ptfe grease as it doesn't inhibit the electrical current to pass. The contacts don't need a great surface area to conduct electricity, when the metal parts touch it will work because the contact area will press anything away and the metals will touch. The dielectric greases are more a surface protection than a full prevention; it helps to prevent sparks on high voltage applications, it's not the case with a pocket lamp. ps: smear some dielectric grease on your fingers and put in a socket; I'm pretty sure your next post will be from heaven :P haha

No, you can't. It's too greasy. It's just like buying crap batteries, you don't do it. You pay decent money and buy quality protected batteries that are safer to use and last for years. In this case... you buy Nyogel or something specifically recommend to do the job properly.
