That part where you recreate the original WoW players attitued hits in the feels man. People can say "rose tinted glasses" all they want, but there was a serious change in, not just WoW, but all of gaming when Thottbot released. It became the standard to datamine games and get all the facts. It was the death of secrets, community problem and quest solving, and cheat codes. "Just Thottbot it"

I was around during Vanilla. My first character being a mage. Started Fire, became Arcane/Fire, then ended up Frost as I realized how needed it was to kite enemies basically taking 2 of them out of the equation with Polymorph and such. I stopped after TBC and just got back into it recently and realized real fast how Polymorph doesn't mean a thing.

Polymorph can be used as an interrupt in m+ even if it only lasts for a partial second it still stops the cast. Its great on the 2nd boss in mists as it takes the fox out of the equation. In pvp mage rogue with sap poly spam can provide an impressive cc chain. The only content that poly does not bring much to the table is raiding. But mages have a raid buff making them mandatory. No other class brings 5% int.

@@Timithydwolf even if it heals while the group is dpsing once the cast is done itll interrupt. the dps will break the poly before it heals. i pvp mostly. in tbc and vanilla and cata when im my counterspell is on cd, i poly then fire blast immediatly before a heal ticks so i interupt an important cast. i donno about now but pretty sure poly works the same. and can be used to interupt.

Incorporeal affix can be taken care of with polymorph (along with other class's CCs) which could help out the healer. Afflicted can be taken care of with decurse (again, along with other interrupts). Both help out the team. I know those are kind of new things, but nice to know certain abilities are still useful in retail wow.

You know what, screw other players at this point, my portals are for me and me alone, unless I am in a raid group I ain’t makin a portal for anyone. There may be portals everywhere in game, but I don’t have to hop through hoop after hoop, I can port wherever the hell I want wherever I am. And to me that part of being a mage is priceless.

Exactly. Don't want to use your hearth to get out of Zaralek Caverns or Emerald Dream? TELEPORT. Actually, people still do seem to like it after something like a world boss fight (where people may have gone there to JUST do that boss). And with world events becoming a thing again (at least for a little while) portals are still appreciated. And people don't want tables? It SEEMS that way, when you put one down and people run right past it. Except, you're in the middle of the second trash pack and someone says "hey can mage drop table?" And if you're doing holiday events? Yeah, absolutely MUCH easier. Sure, there are portals everywhere and I honestly don't care. Never used it to make gold anyway and HATED people /yell-ing in cities or demanding it. I have always gladly ported friends and my groups. (Also, if anyone asked nicely, and I wasn't grouped or in the middle of anything, no matter what expansion, you got a portal). Shoot, when I'm on a non-mage toon, I definitely feel the lack of teleport.

Everyone was nicer in Vanilla because we were all high as fuck on Dopamine. It was our first steps into a whole new fantasy world. You should have seen the first few weeks of Dragonflight. People were nice again. At least, for a little while.

It destroys the world design aswel. No more traveling and discovering the world by boat/ zeppelin. I got a lvl 50 Warlock on retail and I have only seen 1 tutorial 1 city and half an island. While in classic I have an lvl 36 rogue and have seen many places, cities and villages. I know what boat I have to take and I feel more part of the world.

BRO THIS IS SO TRUE! We don’t have that unique class identity anymore! *Everyone has a stun, silence, decent healing, gap closer, way to one shot an enemy *Mages lost their portals, water and food, their shields (that were useful) *Warlocks lost their demon uniqueness, demon armour, 0 demons added since TBC even tho WoW is full of demons, there is literally a whole burning legion, warlocks aren’t that tough anymore, they are just slow and squishy *Paladins lost their auras and buffs, it’s just useless in WoW we have rn, 3% dmg reduction when you can get 1 clapped by broken stuff? Yeah, so useful *All casters lost the sense of mana *All melee lost the sense of distance, every freaking melee has 999 ways to close the gap and reach a caster (which is why I can’t understand why do we still have spell cast pushback????)

No kidding. We used to have this nasty little Undead mage called "Migren" on my server. He'd raid Alliance towns just so we'd attack him. Level 60/70 or level 1, if you were flagged for PvP you were going to die. He'd fight 2-3 players at once and still win. One of my proudest moments in WoW, was when my Survival hunter pwned him. But I was a PvP addict by then. My PvP kills were higher than 20k hk. by far.

A mage was useful during Classic until the end of Wrath of the lich king. In the cataclysm, they become the worst class because a few reasons: 1- Portal are everywhere now 2- The foods they conjures is worthless because they don't give any buff. And 3- If a player don't know how to play mage, the mana pool gets drained really fast!!!! Which means, less dps and more wipes!!!

I noticed how weak and team reliant Mages are. They have great utility but that's just it, utility... Hence why I main a Warlock, self sustaining, can nearly tank a lot with their VW. They can Summon players to raids, solo slightly lower level dungeons (no way Mages could do that). Self heal with drain life and debuff many enemies. Yet despite Mages being (In Lore) one of the most powerful classes. In Game...they're just a weak utility class.
