Today we will give an antique stitching horse some TLC. I do not know the age of this stitching horse but do know that it is old. After a thorough cleaning I will give the leather seat a treatment of oil. The wood was really dirty. To care for the wood I will use a scotch brite pad to clean the stsitch horse and oil with boiled linseed oil. The key to using boiled linseed oil is to apply in very thin coats. I will apply linseed oil once a month for a few months and then yearly to maintain.
If anyone knows that age of this stitching horse I would appreciate help identifying the age and manufacture. Either way I’m excited to have the stitching horse as part of my tools. I big thanks to Wayne for giving it the horse to me.

It improved the angle without added pressure on the design of the horse.

It helped to tighten up the wooden wedge underneath as well.

Robert, that horse looks fabulous. Great job cleaning it up. I just never took the time but I am glad you did and I really thought you would put it to work. I got the horse around 45 years ago when I had my Tandy Leather store. Do not remember the situation on how I got it ,sorry to many years ago. By the way that horse smell may be the horse hair under the seat cause i think I left it there just because if some one ever tore it apart they would may be understand how old it really was. Enjoy it I think it will be a good conversational peace for you.

I had been looking for one for a few years. I wasn’t looking real hard because I toyed with the idea of building one. I like tools with history. I wish this one could talk. Thanks for watching!

Very nice job on the horse, Robert. Very nice. I have no idea how old it is. But I would guess 30s or 40s.
