Since I received my inflatable hot tub this Christmas I have spent hours researching the internet for advice and instructions and I just wanted to compliment you on simplifying the process to me. I live alone with no pets and installed this hot tub in my heated basement with the expectation that maintenance shouldn’t take much time or trouble. @@nomadicfanatic Baking soda (Sodium bicarbonate) will raise the pH of your water and can throw some of your other chemicals out of whack. For instance - bromine and chlorine's effectiveness as a sanitizer are all dependent upon pH. Too high or too low pH will affect how well they keep your water clear and clean.

vinegar is always my go to for help with cleaning it up. 1 gallon of vinegar add at full temp and it's cleared up. Also go for your skin.

You don't need a "vacuum" to get sediment out of a hot tub. All you need is a short garden hose, say 15' to 25'. Make a siphon (there are lots of KZbin videos that show how to do this) and in 5 minutes you've cleaned out all that dense material at the bottom of your tub. So easy.

We have the 6-person Intex, love it,,,, I have been able to manage the water to last a little over three months most the time. Just have to keep the filters cleaned and chemicals checked. I started a Intex facebook page if you are interested in joining.

Hey Eric... the inflatable spas are awesome 👏 especially in locations where a normal spa doesn't work (like camping ⛺️ at the river or mountains)... FYI - Baking Soda (Sodium bicarbonate) is used to raise pH (exact same thing as pH up at the pool supply store) which should be between 7.2 and 7.8... if the water 💦 is too acidic, it's going to make the water cloudy and wear out the heater element (or any metal)... also I don't use chlorine in the spa because it "burns-off" in temperatures above 80° where Bromine is more stable in higher temperatures... one more thing, try dissolving the shock treatment in water prior to adding to the spa... anyway, Thanks 🙏🏻 for sharing...

Baking soda will raise PH, but it raises alkalinity even more. Sodium bicarbonate is typically sold as alkalinity increaser. Many times you do not want to affect alkalinity, in which case PH increaser is typically sodium carbonate, or washing soda.

You can also run the filters through the dishwasher. I had a Hottub for 11 years and besides the no foam the only other chemical I used was Shock it is literally the same as the chlorine once a month to shock then a tablespoon or two about every 2-3 days I would change the water twice a year

I've owned this exact soft tub. It's a really a good investment. Be sure to not over full it with air as I did. Maintain it everyday. Don't let cats on it. Dip filters in bucket w water and tsp overnight. Have extra filters.

Sorry Eric, but I must warn and correct one thing you said at the first of the video. DO NOT use 1 Inch CHLORINE tablets in a small spa that size in your floater. Chlorine tabs are Trichlor and are too powerful for small tubs because they lower your pH and are 90% available chlorine. Bromine tablets are perfect for hot tubs, of course. In fact, there is a GRANULAR form of bromine if you'd rather use instead of having a plastic floater. Another helpful suggestion, just use NON-CHLORINE shock for your bromine spa. You can shock the spa and get back in the water in 15 minutes versus waiting the whole day. That HTH 4 in 1 Shock you are using is really more for swimming pools and too powerful. Just my two cents. I've worked in the pool and spa industry over 32 years and teach water chemistry classes.

You can use ANY tablet you want in these tubs. You just can't keep the floater bobber in all the time. :) Even with Bromine, I don't keep the chemical floater in 24 hours a day. As I'm checking levels each day on my test strips, I'm always taking the floater out an hour or 4 here and there to keep it in the correct range. Tablets are fine in these tubs.

@@nomadicfanatic But if someone DOESN'T take the floater out and leaves a floater filled with trichlor tabs in there for days, they are going to be in for some trouble. There are other variables too such as how high the pH is of your source water out of the tap, etc. For what you are doing, you'd be better off using a granular form of bromine and just get rid of that annoying floater.. Check out "Bromine Concentrate" by a brand called SpaGuard or Spa Essentials (same manufacturer). It's way more user friendly and has a more neutral pH than bromine tablets. Good luck!

The spa I have has the dispenser on a nozzle under water. I don’t think the manufacturer would build it this way if they didn’t intend life the chemicals to always be in the water.

I need to use chlorine in mine. But I can’t seem to master all the levels of everything. I have a kiosk size supply of diff products, but I wish I had just bought one prepackaged set. I still haven’t used the damn thing bc im constantly correcting ph & all the rest. Like a fool, I thought “ok! Just need chlorine most of the time, a few other things randomly”. Nope. I think I’m going to take a sample up to a pool store tomorrow. It’s actually warm enough here right now to use it. I shocked it yesterday & now it’s cloudy.. I don’t get it!

Alkalinity keeps pH stable. You should be checking that along with your Bromine and pH. Other than that your water looks great.

I delude any chemicals in a clean bucket of water especially the shock before I add it it takes better and will prolong the life of the vinyl on the bottom of the tub

Great advice! Very informative. The Frog Ease floater can also be used. Even easier than the process used here. Just get the water hardness right and follow the instructions included on the package. Easy Peasy. The filters should be cleaned after every use. Defoamer is a must too. Other than that I only check the levels about once a week. No issues really. No other chemicals really needed except for shock now and then.I don’t stress about it. If the water is clear and no one gets a rash. My levels have always been in the correct range. Frog Ease is a little expensive,but worth the no hassle.

I remember when we moved to Florida. The dang pool ( 32,000 gallons) had developed all sorts of nasty problems until I got a handle over a 3-4 month period. It went from cloudy water to Algae to black Algae to mustard Algae. What a mess. You know the problem is dyer when they sell you Flocculant to KILL everything and start over. Our two boys and nephew were constantly in the pool along with the grown ups. I finally switched over to a salt system (Bromide) and dumped the chlorine and all the other nasty stuff. I had a Bag that absorbed all the fatty acids through the skimmer and would just add PH up occasionally as well as Bromine tablets. The water was crystal clear. No more red, bloodshot eyes and stinky skin. Definitely the way to go.

I've had inflatable spas for years. I have had to use PH down more than up. Before I hose down my filters I use a old toothbrush to scrub them and loosen up the debris. This adds life to the filters

Be careful with those test strips Eric. I'm a tropical fish keeper and I can assure you they are notoriously inaccurate!!! Be careful you don't hurt yourself by adding excessive chemicals needlessly!!!

2 things: -When filling a hot tub for the first time, Check the Ph!! Don't assume that the Ph is normal straight from the tap! In my area the Ph is 8 which is too high . A high or low Ph will render your bromine or chlorine ineffective. I learned this the hard way! -You can vacuum a hot tub if you have a old, short length of garden hose by siphoning some water out and then sucking the debris.

I've just gotten through just 2 minutes of this video and ALREADY I found out that the white inflatable thing goes INSIDE the dark blue cover! I couldn't even figure THAT out myself! (duh) -- I've had the Intex for a few days and unfortunately one of the connections leaks a bit and we don't want to take it all apart to check or replace the O ring. Listen brother, I noticed if I use the rv I line water filter to fill my intext hottub, it helps tremendously, iv even put two water filters together to put pure water into the hottub, wow what a difference, I highly recommend

Great video, just got a new tub. It’s not up and running yet. I have to ask the cord on it is much shorter than anticipated. How do you feel about extension cords? I have read up on it a bit and seen the numerous warnings in the manual but I thought I seen yours hooked up to one. Thoughts?

In regard to the bubbles using cold air, would you think that maybe using a space heater near the inlet and setting up something to trap that heat to where it is sucked in and used might help?

Thank you Eric...I just set up my new Coleman and noticed that after the first use with 3 people in it, it lost air. I know that sometimes you will have to add air to the hot tub. Can you show us how to fill with air without draining?

I have a question. In an inflatable Intex PureSpa Hot Tub, what is the normal Bromine Level? I read that the normal PH level is 7.2 to 7.6 with a maximum acceptable level of 7.8 but I certainly would want to keep my PH at around 7.4 as best as I could. What's the normal Bromine level? I need to know this as soon as possible!

I don’t know what any of the specific numbers are, I just use the test strips and you use the color guide. I’ve never actually looked into the actual numbers of each chemical

I just went live with the famous campsite on the Wynoochee River north of Lake Wynoochee, the erosion looks worse from when Nomadic was there in the last video I saw a few years ago.
