Some Auto shops use brake cleaner. Spray it right on the battery terminals. Coat the terminals with a bit of Vaseline if you don’t have battery terminals grease. Don’t use to much just a very lite coating. This will help with corrosion. If you can. Buy a new battery ever four years. Just think of all the electronics you use in the car. You can have a good quality battery installed for about $150-$200.00. I’ve been doing it for over fifty years and have no problems with a no start. 😊

Not one mention on how to add distilled water to top off the cells on a maintainable battery. That's assuming that all newer vehicles have a maintenance free battery!!

I was hoping he would cover electrolyte (distilled water) in this video. He did not. The instructions I've seen so far are just too vague.

The problem with the advice of disconnecting your battery and cleaning the terminals with baking soda is that with many modern computerized cars now you can really screw them up by completely unpowering the system. I think a lot of shops keep an auxiliary battery on the terminals or cables when they disconnect the main battery these days. Even my 21 year old Mercedes requires certain steps to re-sync everything from the power windows to the system that keeps the car from sliding. You’ve got to turn the steering wheel both ways lock to lock and then rub your stomach three times. And personally I don’t get these people that just keep an old battery in to see how long it will go bragging about it’s lasting 10 years or more. Every time I’ve had a battery failure it has been in a very inconvenient place. So just keeping it until it fails is playing Russian roulette. At least that’s my opinion. YMMV

you can diagnose a bad batter by seeing is it is having trouble to crank when doing this pull of the positive and hold it near the positive terminal if it sparks your altinator is good

My Dad uses lime to remove the corrosion. My previous boss uses Coca Cola and they both work.

After 2 or so years many batteries don't charge well. He fails to mention the cleaning of the terminals with a metal cleaning brush also many batteries lose water and have to replenish with distill water to recharge better. How they fail to mention important things. Interstate in my Volvo 940 Turbo has the worst fit.

They do not honor warranty. I had a bad cell in one of their batteries and they will not replace it even though they confirmed it had a dead cell. They blamed my not driving "15 miles a day" due to working from home as the reason they will not honor the warranty. Are you kidding me? I have a Nissan sports car that I have not driven in 3 months and it starts every time. Defective batteries; horrible customer service and shady salesman at Interstate Batteries. Several phone calls and the person I talk to was always very rude; told me I had to get my car that will not start to them to look. I had it towed to my dealership because they convince me its the alternator. Dealership said its not the alternator and gave me a new battery which works every time even though I am not driving 15 miles daily.

Hey Emmanuel, sorry for not following up on this earlier, but we'd still like to chat with you to address your warranty issue. Can you email us more details to customerservice@ibsa.com or call 888-772-3600? Thanks so much, and our apologies again for the delay and battery frustration.
