What? Bands are often looking for good bassists they’re hard to find. If you’re good you’ll get a lot of work.

I had a friend who used to make $900/day playing bass in a CO resort town… 3 gigs a day… the only problem was the down seasons when tourism slowed. He was an excellent player though- he could’ve made it anywhere.

Important note: Keep the “real” job while doing your first dozen or so gigs so you can gauge how consistent it will be, and judge your own habits to ensure you’re not actually spending MORE money at the gig. (drinks, food, travel, whatever it happens to be) I love the idea that it’s within reach, but you should always chase your dreams with a safety net beneath you 😊

@@jemmermusic even better! In an ideal world it wouldn’t be so tough to make a living out of creative endeavors that you’ve already spent years practicing, but this world is far from ideal.
