One problem with KDP composition notebooks is that they don't have the sewn binding of popular composition notebooks like Mead or Oxford, which means they don't lie as flat and are not as comfortable to write in as the Mead and Oxford notebooks are. I've started researching this niche myself, and I noticed that some parents prefer the sewn binding. I also prefer it for the notebooks for my kids, so I'm a bit conflicted about publishing notebooks even though I have some cute designs already done.

Caroline why would you do this video? Really are you that desperate for KZbin views?! It’s a fact that this notebook market on kdp is so saturated and it doesn’t work! You are disappointing me!

Two things: Amazon does not do this binding; how do you get that? And do you coach people by any chance?

This channel is quickly turning into another "Get-Rich-Quick" type - low on content, and high on hype. I have learned so much from some of the old videos. Hope you get back to providing real value, not some surface level content.

I agree! In the past, I watched so many of her videos. Now I can't even get through them. Her formula is to wow us by bring up the ol' bestseller calculator to reveal how much money a book is making--like she's revealing something secretive and magical. She have a course coming out. I'm getting this "You can get rich!" is tied in with her course launch.

I'd like to try my hand at notebooks, journals (some with prompts some without) and puzzle books but I'm wondering, should I have 3 different stores - one for each type of book - or 1 store that encompasses all three types? What's are your thoughts?

I was told that you couldn't use the same exact interior with different colored covers. I'm not sure why that would be a problem, but I was told it could get your account banned on Amazon. Has that changed? Or was I told wrong? Because I had ideas to do something like the flower design in different colors for the same exact book interior. I was told the interior would have to be tweaked so that no two would be alike. *shrugs* Which doesn't make sense, since it's a popular thing to do. Why would Amazon be against it when so many publishing companies have done it for years and years. Why turn your nose up at something that isn't broke?
@CherryeBess3 ай бұрын
Amazon is super saturated with these composition notebook/journals so, they made it slightly more difficult to make and repeat. And with KDP you can only make 3 books a day. I have over 150 various books published on KDP. I make each of them from scratch. My covers and interior are all made from scratch for each book. The process of creating the books changed but you can still use the same pictures and lined papes for interiors and covers but you can't just change the cover of a book and use the same interior.

@@CherryeBess - Thank you. I don’t understand their policy on that. These types of works are made and sold by many other publishers for the fact that it’s more money for less work. So, they shouldn’t regulate these kinds of works. Now, the other kinds of low content books, sure. There shouldn’t be two coloring books with the same content and different covers. But the no/low content works that are the same content inside with different covers should be allowed without a problem. But, that’s just my thoughts. I have avoided the interiors you can buy. My intent has always been to create my own. …hmm… I wonder if Lulu has the same restrictions? I’ll see what their rules on it are. I know they also sell spiral books as well. Those would work so much better for these kinds of books. If, I do go that route, I probably won’t use their distribution setup, as it will increase the price of the book. I’ll maybe start out putting links on a website or blog. Then, when I can afford it, I’ll use one of their options for selling through Shopify, or a WebShop. I like that they also have the option to sell works as PDFs. I like that they only take 10% for ebooks & PDF’s too. I just wish they had more traffic. But, once there’s more interest in what I’m selling on Amazon, maybe I can direct that interest over to Lulu. [shrugs] The spiral books should pique interest. Making it easier to write in the no/low content books.

I’m in Australia and have recently started KDP. I love this videos as I love everything about notebooks! I’m just wondering if it’s just me that has warning signs coming up in my account about payments not being compatible and therefore payments would be wired, with a fee. I’m wondering if there’s a particular bank account that would be more KDP friendly here? I am still waiting for my first sale so I’d like to sort it out but don’t know what to do.

Students and people in general are using ipads, and laptops and their phone to take notes these days. Some people do like to write in notebooks. Journals and notebooks are still being sold in stores. Dollar tree sells them for $1.25. So......hmmmm........????

Have the paper choices and quality improved in recent years? I’d love to know. In the past the interior paper used at KDP was very lightweight and not very sturdy for writing or coloring on.
@karentraer_creates3 ай бұрын
Good morning, Laura. No, it hasn't improved. You can basically see through it, and if you research low-star reviews, customers often state dissatisfaction with it. We just have to do our best to make up for it

kdspy shows revenue, not royalty, even if it showed royalty (which is a LOT less than revenue) you'd still have to subtract ad spend, so out of this $10k, probably 1k only profit who knows
