Was really hoping to get into the business this year. Unfortunately all I can afford is a new push mower, weedeater and blower. Guess I'm gonna load up the SUV and make that money🤷🏻‍♂️ Good luck to all small business owners this year.

I started this season, grabbed a 5x8 utility trailer for $500 and towing with a honda civic, just had to get the hitch attachment for my car. Pulls just fine and under the 1000lb tow capacity. Costs maybe $10 in gas for the whole day. Grabbed a 48" zero turn walk behind mower for another $500 and a pushmower for small areas. Backpack blower, weedeater, dethatcher on fb marketplace for almost nothing. Been picking up new customers daily. Charging $75-100/hour for regular mows and $150 hour for specialty work. Mulch, charging $80-120 per cubic yard. Its like $15 made every wheelbarrow full. Just picked up a 10 yard mulch job @ $100 per yard. Getting your customers on electronic payments with you is huge as well. I show up when I want, mow the lawn and leave and just request payment electronically and so far have been paid within an hour of leaving every job done.

We do full property maintenance only, fully manicured. I also clean the pool cages, lanai’s, all driveways & walkways. I bring in all irrigation and spray crews. We are the highest priced company in the area. I’m not the $1 hotdog guy, we’re grilling rib-eyes. You get what you pay for 💎👊🏻

live in Alabama and have 8-5 job m-f. after work and weekends i cut yards. 56 total customers. july was my best month ever $10k!!! been killing myself to make the money and starting to realize this two job deal is hard on my marriage. thinking of trimming the lawns and doing more landscaping next year. more bang for the buck and not an every or biweekly occuring cut. would love to quit my bs corp job. hate it but $$ is good. insurance is a concern too......what are you full time grass cutting folks doing for insurance?

Here in Seattle it is always raining, so I have to just mow in the rain. Good sharp mower blades and bagging the grass.

Great advice man all I do is push mow myself I think what hurts me is I lack knowledge but i have a will to work hard I felt like for years I didn’t charge what I was worth but iam raising prices. Do you always bag with push mowers?
@elitelandscapeslifestories

Good Vibes Jeff 💪 I usually bag when push mowing, simply because we have tall turf fescue grass in my area. It is extremely thick and grows quickly so bagging helps with the “thatch” cleanup, which saves us time. When possible, it’s best practice to let the clippings go back into the ground for nutrients to recycle in the soil. Thanks for hanging out and watching this video!! Make your dreams REALITY…. LIVE LIFE THROUGH LOVE. 🤜❤️🤛

So your invoices change each week potentially? For instance, a job takes 1 hour and is priced at $65. But one week you spend an extra 30 min because of sticks and got a lot of rain so it had to be double/ triple cut. Do you charge for 1.5 hours that week? I’ve had customers time me and ask for lesser price because “it didn’t take you as long as last week”
